Title: It is better to give than receive!

For the last year a friend of mine has been hanging out with me as I shoot my longbow. At first he was an observer then an occasional participant...taking a few shots with my bow. Lately it was hard to get any shooting in myself as he was hogging up my bow. His birthday is coming up and his wife was wanting to get him a bow and she asked if I would make him one... So here it is...I finished it up today!

The white overlays and nocks are sycamore...I managed to get some wood from his favorite tree on his property. I was wanting to stain the sycamore a darker color but his wife liked the white so I left it alone.

It came out at 57# at 28" it is 62" R/D 18" Riser

Nice gift. He with treasure it! Is it a all wood lam or is there glass in there?

Besides, you have to do whatever it takes to prevent having your personal bow from being groped all the time by stange hands.  :biglaugh:

It has glass...Maple core...Bocota lams and glass. Walnut riser with bamboo and roasted oak.

Thats great of you.  Its way more fun to shoot with a buddy.  It will mean a lot to him.

Just finished up some shooting with the new bow owner and his bow... I forgot to take some pics  - he was thrilled. i thought his wife would want to wrap it up and give it to him on the big B-day but she said he was not interested in waiting any longer. She gave me money to buy 6 arrows for him as well so i set him up with some carbon arrows with 250 grain field points. Which is just under 10 grains per pound of draw weight. He is not yet a hunter so I settled on a slightly lighter arrow to give him some added speed. The bow was zinging arrows.

I had two other requests for bows as some other friends were looking on. I am amazed at how quickly people get hooked on the thrill of flinging arrows.
