Ok. I got my snakeskins glued on this morning. I plan to let the glue dry for a couple days. I taped off the whole bow to the edges of the limbs. When I go to dress up the edges and remove the excess skin, what is the best thing to use? File, sanding block or what? Do you sand downward and work down the limb for best results? Any tips would be appreciated!
I used to use a file, but on the last set I used a new piece of 150 grit and a wood block with a square edge.
These were take down limbs. I started at the fades and worked toward the tips.
Work slow and careful.
I cut pretty close to the limbs with a box cutter just before the skins are completely dry. After they dry I use a small file to trim the skins down to the limbs and follow up with a sanding block.
I use a fine file and follow up with a sanding block just like Eric dicribed.
