Just getting ready to cut my arrow rest and sight window in my recurve that i`m making. how high do i go above the center of my riser?
U might want to ask about this on the bowyer's bench. Most of them guys are pretty durn good at that sorta stuff.
x200
yeah thats for the bench
Most arrow rests are cut 1 1/4 to two inches above the center of the bow, with the vast majority of them closer to 1 1/4 inches above center. Selfbow makers tend to cut their shelves closer to two inches above center because if they find one limb is stiffer than the other during tillering, it's a simple matter to just flip the bow.
I start at 1.25" above C/L on my D/R bows, but I like a shelf down on the hand...
Thanks guys! been away for a while, going to get it cut this week at work, let u no how it turns out.
Inch and a quarter is good.
God bless , Steve
I go with 1 inch. Had a bow once that was 2 inches and it shot poorly.
1 1/4"
For me it depends on bow length. The shorter the bow the less I offset it so that it's perfectly balanced.... but it's usually between 1 1/4 and 1" above bow center.
I go with 1 inch above the most inset portion of the grip.
Most of the time I put the inset of the grip in the center and shelf 1" above that.
