Hey everyone,
Wondering if anyone has experience putting ilf fittings into a homemade 3-piece. I'm working on a 3 piece all wood takedown and I'm wondering if ILF would be anymore difficult than a bolt/alignment pin setup like Bingham uses.
Any experience is helpful. I assume I can mill a slot for the ILF riser insert on a drill press with an x, y mill table? I apologize for my poor knowledge of the terminology. Haven't run a mill in a few years.
Anyone mill a riser to fit one of these?
Good question! I hope to see an answer or two here also.
When I first saw the ILF setup my first thoughts were "YUCK".
Since then I've seen several that really perk my interest.
Glad you ask the question. I may have to try it one day.

Troy, My motivation was basically for standardization, if I take a bow hunting and snap a limb I could conceivably get a set of cheap target limbs on very short notice. Also it seemed like it'd be easier to get all my homemade limbs to be interchangeable.
Ben,
Agree 100%,,, easier access to limbs in that monent of dispar and easier alienment is a big plus for me.

After doing some searching (and with some help), it seems people are routing a slot for the metal ILF insert piece. Seems like a no brainer decision after someone tells you how to do it.
At the same time, if you dont have router/table and a drill press, it probably costs the same to buy a used mini-mill like grizzle or central machinery as a decent router/table and drill press ...
my .02 .... maybe I can convince the boss I need a mill in the apartment now ... we'll see.
