Title: New Mollegabet Pic Heavy
Post by: CardboardDuck on February 18, 2013, 09:57:00 AM
I made this one for the trade over on PA. I think it turned out alright and it shoots great, but wanted to get some opinions. It's for a great guy and I don't want to send him something sub par ya know? Here are some pics, I will try to get a full draw later when I have someone to take a pic (I tried the whole camera timer thing, wow was that a good laugh  :)  )

One thing about ERC... If you look at it funny it dents  :knothead:  I love how this one shoots, I was consistently grouping four arrows at 20yds.

I looks awesome!  What are the specs?  Do you have the obligatory full draw pic?

Lots of nice looking features incorporated.  Shows wonderful craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Now, please don't take this wrong, but... I think your narrowed tip sections are way thicker than they need to be to get the light tips that are so useful in this design.  Thats just my thought looking at it.  This coming from someone who has yet to build a Mollegebat.  :o

Sharp looking bow, like all the accents. The molly design is on my soon to build list.

Duck--You gotta know what I think after receiving one of your bows---he will be VERY happy. You do work like an ole master. I'm amazed how good you can make a bow with the little experience you have. You have talent. Ship it--it's great. Best wishes--AJ

Of these style bows, which I know nothing about,,, this is one that looks really cool.

My problem is, I know nothing of the design.

Where did it come from?
What are the advantages and or disadvantges?

Although tiller is probably more critical than say on a flat bow, the design looks simple to fabricate.

Someone take a minute and explain to me these bows called Mollegabet...

All I know is they are named after the digsite they were found at in Denmark, I think... somewhere around 8000 years old? Other than that I don't really know much about them other than they are fun to make/shoot. I might be wrong on all of this info  :)  I just like to jump in and make new things  :)

It's a fairly high stress design.

Good cast due to shortish working limb and narrowish tips. Plays on the principle that wood is significantly more rigid when its thick vs. wide and thin. Hence the thick tips (static) and thin (parallel and wide) working limb.

I like the bow posted!
