Guys I've been using satellite city super t the thick stuff. I see a lot of guys using smooth-on. I haven't had any problems with them lifting yet, but I'm wondering if I should be using smooth-on.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks Cory
Only real bowyers use smooth on..
It's all I've ever used and never had any problems. But that doesn't mean I'm a real bowyer:)
I've used both. But prefer the thick ca glue because of time
Nothing but Smooth-On
Have had good luck with the Gorilla high impact super glue, but prefer good old smooth on. Never a problem with it.
Wow for a minute Roy had me going thinking I was a REAL bowyer. :D But then I read the rest of his post. It's all I've ever used and when I haven't had a problem with something it's hard for me to change. I'd love to try super glue sometime strickly for the speed though.
Somehow to me super glue just doesn't belong on a wooden longbow:) But I'll use the other high tech glues like Smooth On and Urac185 while my supply last's, then it's gonna be Unibond800:) Guess I'm not a real Traditional Bowyer.. :knothead:
I use the Smooth-on exclusively. In the past, I've had a yellowish discoloration show up between the overlay layers when using certain types of ca.
I use Kwik-It.
Back when Ann and Earl Hoyt were just closing out their shop. I stopped in for some bargains and a,final tour.
They used the CA type glues for their tip overlays.
I use Smooth-on. It is easier to feather into the glass, well maybe not easier but looks better when finished. Bob
Smooth-on next to the glass-- better fade outs.
