Title: Recurve tips
Post by: Jack Skinner on February 05, 2013, 04:53:00 PM
How do you guys recurve your tips. I have an osage stave that looks like gull wing. Want to recurve tips some to see if it will improve bow. I think that would be better than forcing a lot of change in the stave using my form.

Steam and a caul.

A qt paint can makes a fine static radius template. I prefer steaming 3/4" sq tips for 45-50 minutes.

For slight recurve, say anything under 30 degrees, I use a heatgun.  Anything over that, I prefer to boil the tips for 45 minutes or so.
