This is a bow I'm making for Charlie Jefferson(stringstretcher). Charlie likes ca "Hill" style bow so I gave this bow a deep, narrow handle and will add a leather shelf and sewn on leather handle wrap along with an American Longbow style bow. When done she'll be about 45#@26" and is about 65" t/t.
Around Christmas she looked like this...

...and this...

After a bit of hear, olive oil and some clamping she began to look more like this...

...and this...

...and after a few weeks and a little more manipulating she is beginning to come around. Here is where she sits today. I still need to reduce the weight a little, shoot her in with 100 arrows or so and then do the finish work.

I'm amazed at what you fellers can do!
Pat, that is an incredible bow!
Very nice, Pat.
Nice Pat! I was kind of wondering about the title of the thread until I got a good look at the second to last picture. :)
Pretty cool bow, Pat.
I don't think I'd ever have the patience to work around the knots like that.
Looks pretty good Pat!
Nice work, lots of character on that one.
Jay
Cool looking bow Pat, really like the Hill style grip.
Thanks everyone. It has been a fun project. Lots of different sessions with the heat gun and clamps but I think she will make Charlie a good bow.
Pat.............
I am impressed with the order and cleanliness of your shop. I could feel at home there.
James
My hat is off to you who work staves like that!
I know first hand that Pat can do magic on stuff like that. I have one that I show everyone I see!!
That's some great looking Osage if you ask me. Nice work there Pat B!
James, I just cleaned my shop not too long ago. d;^)
nKenny, Hows she working out for you. Do you think we can bring you to our side?
I am loving it. Just watching it come to life has been a pure joy. As always, awesome work Pat.
Veldig fin bue. (very nice bow) in norwegian. Bue--. :)
Veldig fin Norwegian, Bue! d;^)
WOW Pat! Nice work!!
Nice work!
That is a great looking bow Pat! Your bows always inspire me to try those staves that usually I cull. Excellent craftsmanship!
Very, very interesting! I have not seen warts on my osage.
Do ya think the limbs were ill and didn't form??
What's up with those little burls?
Sharp bow, Pat!
Joe, they are clusters of pins.
Nice looking bow, Pat. I just roughed out an osage with some clusters of pin nots, but they did'nt "wart up" like those. Cool...
I've seen pin clusters like this before, Mark and Joe, but always pryed them off. This time I decided to work with them.

We all know a frog peed on it Pat LOL
That was it, Kris! d;^)
Are they contagious???...lol
Only if it pees on ya!
Outstanding ....as always!! :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
Well this bow will never see the rain then, cause how would I know the difference???...lol
I thought it was a TOAD that caused warts. Just think, I've avoided toads for all these years!
Nice work Bud. Great looking bow.
Well here she is all finished up except for a bit more shooting. She pulls 47#@26"(tillered out to 28") and shoots well except for a little hand shock. I think this is because one side of the bow is a little stiffer because of the "warts".
Anyway, here she is. I hope she works well for you Charlie. I'll get full draw pic up later...

So very nice Pat. I am truly blessed and honored to be getting this bow that you made. I have admired your work and ability to make a piece of wood come alive for many years now. And I could not be more pleased. Thank you so very much my friend. :notworthy:
Real sweet, Pat

Another nice bow, Pat!
A year and a half ago I started on an osage selfbow that had several huge "warts" like that one. (My wife called it "Two Tits", don't ask me why.) While final tillering, and shooting-in the bow split a few inches long below the top nock. I filled it with super glue and wrapped artificial sinew around the split but stopped working on it.
It was so pretty I was afraid it would completely split, or break. I should probably finish it... Maybe this summer.
Wow! That is an awesome bow! Great job Pat!
