Title: Bow Length/Draw Length/Weight
Post by: Don Drake on January 21, 2013, 05:44:00 PM
I am working on a osage self-bow.  The bow has been floor tillered and the nocks have been filed in.  Currently, it is 68" long with a eight inch non-bending handle.

My target weight is 50# at 28".  Any suggestions on the optimum length?  Should I leave it at 68" or shorten to say 62"?

Tiller it out at 68". If you don't like it after shootng it in just shorten it then. That's also good if you come in under weight a bit.

I wouldn't go shorter than 62".

Don, I agree with O'tree. I would tiller it out at the length you have, then pike it down to bring the weight up to where you want it. Let us know how it comes along. Good luck, and have fun!
