Title: A new recurve for close quarters
Post by: JJB on January 18, 2013, 05:57:00 PM
Hi guys - I thought I'd share a short recurve I just finished up.  It will be just the ticket for in blinds and other close quarter situations where limb interference could be a problem.  It was my first time working with macassar ebony, I really like it a lot.  The accent stripe and tips are cocobolo.  The specs are 54" 55# @ 28".

Thanks for looking.

-Jay

I like it.  It looks a lot like my old Browning Nomad Stalker, only a lot prettier.

Beautiful! I like how you got the grain in the cocobolo to almost match the grain in the ebony below the shelf there!

Beautiful bow, Jay. Nice job.
Is there any finger pinch with such a short bow at 28" of draw?

Simple and elegant, very nice recurve.  I am beginning to really enjoy the shorter recurves. Love yours.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the compliments.

Stan - This is the shortest bow that I've made and I was pleasantly surprised at how it shot.  I don't have any issues with finger pinch with it thought I shoot 3 fingers below which helps a bit.

That's a super piece of macassar ebony, and the quality of your work is top-notch!  Jay just ordered another piece of ebony that he will make into a 64" longbow for me.  I can hardly wait!     :clapper:
