these are not mine but I found an ad in our local CL wher here in Mass some divers are pulling up Ebony finished logs from the schooner "dolphin" that sunk in 1851,, these look like nice straight grained fence posts.. I figured some of you might be interested in these,, but I'm not sure if I can post the link??

It would probably be awesome for risers and accents. I just looked up the ad and the things are so covered in scale and lichen that it's hard to see grain or anything. Lots of the bigger ones are checked pretty badly (150 years under water will do that I guess) but if you want to shell out $600 per log they would probably be beautiful.
yeah ebony from the deep is very rare,,,, thought it was cool though after seeing it and had to mention it here.. I also passed the info on to a few guys who make custom stocks for flintlocks.. forgot about the knife makers here though so hopefully the catch wind..
also 600 isn't alot for a log,, I recently talked to a Bowyer who just bought a cocobolo board for 750 cash.
