Skinned this bow for a friend that likes things a little different. Shows how the background can influence color.

Chuck,
That looks awesome. Give us some details on the bow and the color influence.
Chuck I'm with Razor man Details please!!!!
Thanks !
Osage recurve with silk backing that was painted brown. Painted over brown with off white, rust orange, burgundy. Lightly steel wool back through different colors for effect. Then skin as normal. I have been using Epifanes varnish, great stuff.
Wow! Looks great!
I could get use to something like that! Amazing!
That looks wicked, Chuck! I love how the paint shows through the skin, it gives it a whole 'nother dimension. Fantastic work, and thanks for the details! :notworthy:
That looks great. Nice job I love snake backed bows.
Thanks everyone !
More pics please. You know that's against the rules. :readit:
DVS, I have already shipped the bow. I did not make the bow, just skinned it.
That truely is a one of a kind. Great job! You sure pass along some great ideas.
Wow! That is really nice!
Dang man!
What else you got up your sleeve? Your work never disappoints Charles. Very cool.

I got two pairs of coppers on the way. Guess what is going to happen , One of them is going to be my personal bow. I can do anything I want with it. This is going to be fun.
God bless you all, Steve
Thanks again everyone. Steve, have fun, I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Probably orange, beige and black just to enhanse the natural colors I will lay the skin out on the limbs first and mark the appropriate areas ;then mask and paint the beige . then the orange over it./ black will be the limb carbon/
At least thats what I'm thinking right now./
God bless, Steve
Great work Charles!
Never been a big fan of skins - but I like that. Very cool!
The bow arrived yesterday. It is beautiful. The photographs do not come close to showing how the colors come through the skin. Charles did an amazing job, both with the copperhead skins and the leather grip. I especially like the skin termination at the riser and the tips. I can not grasp the concept of posting photos, but I did send several pics to Charles. I hope he will post them. My photographs fall short of truly depicting just how vivid the skins really are, as well.
The bow is a 60" Osage I bought from Bill Stroupe (Cold Mountain Longbows and Hawk Arrows) 2 years ago. He couldn't recall the bowyer that made her. The intials "BA", the date "5-09" and "Orange Crush" are written on one limb in a very flowing script. If anyone has an idea who the bowyer may be, I would very much like to know. She is a fine shooting bow, and was pretty enough before- now Charles has made her beautiful.
Thanks Brian, I am very glad you are pleased with what I have done. I will try to get your pics up this evening, well hopefully I might be to busy skining cats.
