Title: making sineu
Post by: Stump73 on December 13, 2012, 05:03:00 PM
I was givien some tendons from a deer that was just killed this morning. I was wondering how to store them while they dry and what process do you go through to turn them into sineu?

I usually just lay them out on a drying rack or on some paper towel. They can stick to the paper a bit but will peal off.

Main thing is to store where critters can't get to them.
After dry or after processing.  I usually keep them in the freezer .
There is a lot of info out there for processing. Especially on YouTube.

I air dry mine. Once good and dry I'll lay it on the anvil and lightly beat it with a hammer. Peel off the outer caseing and start tearing it apart leangthwise until I reach the size strands I'm looking for.

I lay mine out on plastic tub lids and put them on top of my car on sunny days until they are good and dry.  Once processed I bundle them up and keep them in a shoebox in my closet.
