Title: Arrow dipping using PVC?
Post by: ChiefStingingArrow on December 05, 2012, 03:20:00 PM
I use Bohoning Fletch-lac and they say on the can not to dip in pvc tubes. I would like to use a homeade PVC dipping tube using this product  and was wondering if anyone else has  used this with PVX and had no problem?

Bohning will melt pvc so that will be a no go. I would recommend making one out of a metal pipe if you want to do it yourself. I've never used the pvc as a dip tube but the vapors have softened pvc I had in the vacinity.

I use water based Polycrilic in PVC dip tubes.

My home built ones were with 1 inch copper with a reverse reducer on top.
Worked well.
I now have one of the plastic ones they sell for this. Like it better for cleaning.

I'm a huge do it yourselfer but for that I bought the dip tubes with the rubber gaskets.  They work great and the gasket lacquer dries SUPER fast.

Yup, it's tough to beat the dip tube with the rubber gasket along with gasket lacquer! But it sure does stink and will get ya high if you don't have good ventilation.

Are those dipping tubes the same plastic as golfbag tubes?  If so, then that's a cheaper alternative.

I used golfbag tubes with corks for a couple of years and they worked.  However, without a big reservoir it required constant filling, the extra hassle was not worth the few bucks I saved.  Bought the dip tubes and now chide myself for not getting them sooner.

Buy the dip tubes. It will cost you more to make your own buying the pieces.
