Title: Thanks Pearl Drums
Post by: Roy from Pa on November 29, 2012, 06:58:00 PM
Got home from work today and there was this long package sitting in the living room. Inside was an awesome Osage self bow that Chris made for me. We took some pictures and I was gonna go shoot it, when the phone rang. I got called back to work for a meeting with my upper level two managers. That only took 3 hours. Anyway here she is, 41+ # at 27 inches.. Thanks Chris for the great bow, Roy

Now you did it. I guess he isn't a closet hack lover now! Haha.
Sweet bow anyway. Just a shame it couldn't have been in a man weight range though, but I guess you had to go with what samsquatch wanted.    :biglaugh:

Roy, I only gave you my old dress because you promised to wear it, not keep it on the wall as a reminder of how much you miss me when I'm not online. Bit I understand if the leather is to rough on your saintly little flower skin. We all know you prefer your dress made from silk.   :deadhorse:

Yep Scott I made it out of cardboard, 4' long by 18" wide. I've had it for many years, as one spot gets shot up, I just move the sheets around and it's like new again. That target must have 10,000 shots in it.

I have it mounted on an old coffee table, put a 1 X 12 board on top, leaving it stick out 2 inches on each end, then placed a 4 foot piece of 2 inch angle iron in the center of the board, then ran 4 foot long all thread bolts down the edges and cranked it down tight to another piece of angle iron under the coffee table. With the card board, many times the arrow slides into one of the corrugated holes of the card board, so it really doesn't tear it up a lot.

One problem I have had is when shooting bare shaft woodies, if the shafts are way out of spine, it has caused some to break, as the arrows are flying at quite an angle when they hit.
