So I have had this happen many times before.. but just moved on. But there has got to be a way to take care of this?
Clear glass both from Binghams and from Kustom King.. you can see the streaks..

I sanded the new glass on the back (rough side).. and cleaned with Acetone before glue up... using Smooth On epoxy in an oven. Then I sanded the front side 150-240-320.. And still they are there.
Any ideas?
Bradford do the streaks disappear when you put the finish on or are they between the lam and the glass? Dark lams show flaws worse then lighter colored ones.
I have limited experience, but I have never sanded the rough side and I never sand the smooth side with anything less than 220 grit. I have built three with clear glass and never any streaks.
... and I have heard that power sanders and glass don't mix, I have never tried it, just what I've been told.
the streaks were there when i took te tape off. they look to be in the glass itself.. not under it. yeah, i used the 150 this time to start because of the streaks. i have had these before. i do not always sand the sanded side, but was hoping to get a real clear finish.
It is in the glass, I look each pc over before shipping, some I catch, some I can't.
I have sanded .040 down to .010 and they were still there.....
Trux is right, dark lams show worse.

That is a pain in a certain place when that is happening. I have wondered if it could be that the epoxyresin have not completely saturated the glass fibers. Apart from that your bowlimbs looks very nice. Bue--
Take a similar colored marker to the veneer and do a touch up on the glass. Then apply your finish. makes it look 200% better
Gordons has slipped a bit in the last 8 or 10 years. Wish Switzerland would send us their glass. Clearest made but won't sell to us cause we hunt.
thanks for all the input. I finished them up today and over all look awesome... I guess that is the part of getting something "hand made". I was going to take pics tomorrow.. i will post. the bow looks really cool.

If you mean ISO glass ? that is bad too.

If there were such a clear glass in Europe, we euro-bowyers will not buy our glass in the US.
The glass makers here in Europe are mostly working for the ski industry and
the "clear glass" they make, that I saw, is not for the moment, as clear as the Gordon. (Bearpaw glass etc...)
Bob, those company do not care if you are a hunter or not.
They are just like Gordon, they have a minimum order and, if you fill that request, they will sell you the glass.
For the moment, the suppose to be clear glass from Bearpaw is not that clear but from what I know they are working on it.

The streaks are IN the glass. It is just the way it is. Like Kenny said,nothing can be done.

I'm of course talking about clearness not quality here.
For me, Rudy glass is equal in term of clearness to the one from Bearpaw.
I'm not 100% sure but if I remember it right the glass sold buy those two is made in the same place in Austria.
Excel and other make some of the best glass in the world, but in term of clearness it is the same than the one from bearpaw etc...etc...
Anyway, even if Exel where making a more transparent glass than Gordon they won't even bother answering you and not because we hunt but because traditional archery making is way to small for these kind of company.
I met most of them at the JEC Composites Show in Paris and for the moment the "Euro" Clear glass look similar from one to the other.
I bought some clear glass from an Estonian Bowyer before I left England for SA. He said it was from Bearpaw, it also has streaks in it. If you look at my thread, 1st glass bow, you'll see in the last photo what they look like. I can't see them on the light actionboo belly though.

I use Gordon ( from Kenny ) for quite some time now and I have to admit it's the best I've ever used. Before I glue up a bow I always check against the light if there are any streaks or other irregularities in it. If it's not ok I put it aside and use it for a bow with bright veneers like maple or osage. Fortunately that happens only on some very rare occasions. If it's ok I use it for any kind of veneers.

I know Rudi´s glass for several bows. It is the ISO glass remarked before. Now he has a new glass at start. This is more clear than the others. The best glass i had in the past was from kenny. But the shipping cost ... :(
