Here's some photos of the latest bow I have completed. It's 70" NTN. 1 1/2" wide at the fades with just a slight taper to midlimb (stave dictated that). Then tapers from midlimb to 1/2" 6" from tip, and last 6" are straight 1/2" but a little thicker to keep them from working. I marked it 48lb @ 29" but it pulls safely to 30".
Finished in many thin coats of true oil sanded 600 between coats. Tips are walnut/osage/walnut.
Any constructive criticism is welcome, especially on tiller.
Mods, if the pics are too big let me know. Photobucket has changed and I'll am trying to figure it out.
Thanks,
John

And here's a sample of the dozen arrows I built for him. Processed the feathers from turkeys he killed in the spring. Done my own popular shafts and barrel tapered them. Done the gold bands with a caligraphy pen and wide tip.

Thank you Folks.
As I looked at the pictures I thought that sure looks like some of my old family land in Kentucky.
Beautiful work on the bow and arrows. You will have one very pleased and proud father.

Thank you gentleman.
Made delivery a few days ago and he was really tickled. I delayed for a day and changed strings. Had a 12 strand B-50 and went up to 14 strand. Made a difference for the good.
It shot a lot better with the 14. Arrows with points/broadheads are 670 grains and during flight shooting I was getting about 170 paces out of it. My paces are right around a yard so I figured that was pretty good...don't have anybody else's bow around to compare too.
That's a great job, Briarjumper! Beautiful work.
beautiful bow John.
lotsa work in there!!
please elaborate as to why the 14 strand shot better than the twelve. just trying to learn
thanks

fujimo,
The 12 strand was too stretchy and will slap your wrist. I never have to wear an arm guard, and the string was too stretchy and let it slap up too far and catch my wrist.
Put on the 14 and the bow shot much more solid, better arrow flight and no wrist slap.
im gonna try that 'cos up till now i have used 12 strand on all my bows- .it also seemed to fit the nocks better, but i can warm the nocks and open them a mite.
thanks
Awesome looking bow with a perfect looking tiller. Well done!
:clapper: Nice work! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you gentleman. Dad has been shootin' it and loves it. He got a good eight pointer with his rifle opening weekend. Now I hope he can get the confidence built up to try and take a good doe with it for the freezer.
