I'm about to start shaping so I'll be needing a string to get going. Thanks,

make a long string with a loop on one end and a timber hitch on the other. That way you can adjust the length as you tiller.

Like BMN said, but when you want to make one with 2 loops, you can just untie it and make the loop, or you can make a string that is about 3 inches shy of your nock to nock length and twist or untwist as needed.

The 3 inch less than NTN will be pretty close.
One variable if it had,a,high r/d then may be needed a little longer.
