You know how we always set out to build a perfect bow? Well I never have until now... almost. This is by far my best effort. I shoot it great and its quick and quiet. I used the prettiest chunk of mac ebony i've ever gotten my hands on. Held on to it till I had finished all the bows I had promised to my buddies. Decided I would take my time and get it perfect and I did accept for one little detail (check out the last pic)
its 62" 55#@28" Mac ebony and Curly maple.

When I was shaping the handle I went a little deep into the overlay on the back exposing the dowel I used to keep the overlay from moving during glue up. Oh well maybe the next will be perfect.

Oh and here is a shot of the braced profile

I think you buddy is going to be happy. Great looking bow!
You know how a small scar can make a woman's face more interesting, and still beautiful?
Beautiful bow. Nice craftsmanship.
Beautiful bow Dan ! I bet Wade tries to make off with it.
Very nice
Really sharp bow, I think it's perfect:)
That's a beauty!!
That's a nice one, I like the combination of wood you used. I have a piece of mac ebony that I've been saving and may pair it up with curly maple after seeing yours.

SWEET!!
Great looking bow there.
Thanks all. And Charles this one is for me. It's my go to bow now. Hope to make meet with it next week. I already built Wade a bow this year.
Character flaws never hurt anything-looks good to me and I love Mac ebony.
Those wood combos make a very attractive bow! Great job!!
Beautiful bow!!!
your right that dowel really screws the whole deal! Better send it my way so I can get rid of it! :biglaugh:
Love the lines on that one!...well done!
Very nice!! Tony
Nice looking bow.Dont worry about the blem, just drill one to match on the other side and tell everyone how hard it was to get them even!
Dan after I had a similar incident I started dowelling in the sight window cutout and can use a small nail since it is not getting hit by a saw. Works great bro. just flatten the head of the nail and grind the edges of the head real good and it doesn't bother a thing.
Thats a very nice looking bow bro.
God bless, Steve
Thanks everyone! And thanks for the pointer Steve. Got one more to do before the opener next Monday. A little 56" rig with a flared riser. Gonna try your method. It will help out a lot. Hope you are doing well.

Wow, awesome bow. Love the braced profile on the bow, looks like a shooter. REally impressive bow, and you should be pleased with it.
That's a bow to be proud of.
Sweet bow.
Rob
Just tell people you did it on purpose. Tell em "Persian rug makers weave the finest rugs in the world. They all purposely weave one flaw into the rug though, because they believe that perfection is something that should be attainable only by God."
