Title: Hill Style. Need Help.
Post by: Drake 15 on September 01, 2012, 02:20:00 PM
Hi everyone. I am wanting to learn how to build a hill style bow. I am wondering if they make a kit for this or if anyone has information on how to build a form. Any info would be great. About the only thing I have to go by are my two Pete George longbows. Thanks in advance. Drake.

Drake - Below is a link to a Hill Syle build along I did a while ago. (This is still my go-to bow.)

The form for a straight limbed Hill style is about as easy as you can get.  My form is made of plywood, 1 1/2" thick and about 72" long.  The space between the top and bottom parts of the form is 1 1/4" (I think).  Bingham's sells the hardware you need or you could make your own.  Bingham's also has pretty good instructional videos that cover both building the form and bow.  Now with my straight form, I will end up with about 1/4" string follow in the final bow after shooting some.  If you want a reflexed bow, you'll obviously need to cut your form differently.

Feel free to send me a PM or post here with additional quesitons if you have them.

Good luck,

John
