Title: Bandsaw to cut trap limbs
Post by: JJACOBS on August 17, 2012, 09:01:00 PM
Who if anyone uses the bandsaw to cut the angle of the trapped limb while cutting it from the bow blank?  Lam bows of course.  I am thinking of trying this on my current build.  Thanks

I don't make glass bows, any more but when I did I found that the glass tore up bandsaw blades.
I preferred to use something like a disc sander to shape the limbs.

You are right about it being hard on the blades.   I keep old dull ones just for it.  I am looking to speed up my process a little.  I have three bows in que at once.

I bring mine down close to the marks with a 4'' disc sander and 36 grit, and then use a sanding board with 40 grit to take them to the marks. Doesn't take long at all but boy it throws some dust about.
