Title: Possible self bow?
Post by: rmorris on August 04, 2012, 10:57:00 PM
I have never made a self bow, but with every one I see on here, I keep wanting to make one. A week or so ago we had an apple tree fall down. Do you all here see any wood that may possible work for a self bow? The  trees are over 50 years old and a little rotten in the cores , the may also be some insect damage and the cracks I can see look to twist a little . Let me know if I should chop it up for fire wood or give it a try.

I've never worked with apple, but that is a lot of twist.  If it were me, I would look for some better wood.
