Since I measure the lams always on the butt end, I cut them on the thin end.

I use the butt end for my stack thickness measurement so I normally cut the thin end. I usually leave the glass and lams longer than the finished length by a half inch to and inch on the glue up.

A few guys measure at the riser fades, but most beasure at the butt.  If from Binghams, measure at butt.

Good luck and we want pics!!

I measure at the butt as well. I leave everything full length when I glue up.

I use the measurement at the butt end for my stack.  Like Kenny said if it is a Binghams plan measure at the butt.
