Title: Longbow into a two piece take down?
Post by: macbow on July 01, 2012, 02:36:00 PM
I was going to ship a BBI longbow to a youth in Australia untill I ran into shipping problems.
42 inch max length for Aust. mail. UPS $215

Is there a inexpensive way to make it a 2 piece take down?
thanks, Ron

Yup.  Here's part 1 of a 9 part series showing how to make a take down sleeve with fiberglass cloth and epoxy.

Here's a written tutorial:

I have seen up here where you cut the handle an extreme angle cant remember what then use fiberglass fabric and epoxy to make a sleeve put micarta on both ends to make up for the wood you removed you wax one end before wrapping up with glass and epoxy so the limbs can separate

On second thought, the video series I linked to has ten parts.  Here they all are together:

Thanks Sam, Kenny sent me a similar link, JGL, thanks these suggestions should work.
I'm just starting on the YouTube series. I've got a slow speed net.
