Title: Riser finish crack
Post by: T Folts on June 22, 2012, 06:58:00 PM
I have a riser made out of Zircote and I have a crack in the finish on a grain line. It was refinshed with Krystal but came back. I have Thunderbird will this do the job?

Does the crack go into the wood?

If so, I would CA the heck out of it, or the finish will continue to crack I think.

Thats possible too,  I would sand to wood, coat with CA and finish again, but I'm no finish expert by any means!!

Being Krystal is a laquer based finis I dont think the oil should bother it. Like Kenny said if the crack is inthe wood CA it. Sand it in that area and blow it out with air pressure. If it is a crack in the wood thin CA will wick down into it.
