Title: glue question
Post by: andy nimmons on June 17, 2012, 10:55:00 PM
For the experienced bowyers out there, this one is for you, on tips and fadeouts, what is the best
CA glue
5 minute epoxy
smooth on followed by a heat lamp
???????

Thanks Andy

My limited experience:

Smooth On - works great and the tips seem to fade into the glass nicer.

Gorilla blue top CA glue - works great, fast, but you get more of a sharp transition into glass as opposed to a fade.

Smooth On is better than CA in my experience. I put shop lights near the tips and build a tent around them with a towel to hold the heat there... just be sure to leave somewhere for the heat to escape... you don't want to start a fire.

Smooth On is always my choice. It takes longer to dry but works so well.

I like the smooth on for the blending properties as well.

I've had good luck with "Kwik-It" for tip overlays.
3Rivers sells it.

I use smooth on, I've never used heat, just let it dry for 24 hours.  Never had any problems with it.....Dan
