I am almost finished with my first bow. It is 62" #50 at 27". Please let me know if I am on the right track... Bo-tuff and hard maple with a coreflex laminated riser.

Very nice! If you didn't say it was your first, I would never had guessed.
Dave.
Oh yeah... Welcome!
Dave.
Looks great Nick, welcome to TG.
:clapper: you are on the right track- nice looking bow!!
hay Dave?? do you live in or near berks county pa because i want to learn how to make a bow and i need someone to teach me i will be able to clean up and tidy for you in return of showing me how to make it
Thanks guys. I tried to find someone in my area to learn from but I couldn't, so I just decided to jump right in... I have to admit some parts of the process are a little confusing, I'm still trying to figure out exactly how to make my arrow shelf... any tips would be appreciated.
After I make a few of these I might attempt something a little more difficult.
Nice job and welcome.
looks great!
Lood good!! Full draw pic is very nice, looks like it will be a great shooter.
Welcome, you're doing a great job! I cut my arrow shelf in with a bandsaw then round it out with a dremel tool or rasp.

This is what I did today for the shelf. I think I need to round it out a little more...
You've got a lot of meat left on the riser. I'd cut it in closer (deeper) to center. Your shelf radius is looking good.
Welcome!!
I'm with Dave on centercut, will make arrow tuning much easier..
And great job on 1st bow!
How much more should I cut?
You could cut it in closer to center at the shelf-start your cut higher up and taper in to the center- I did most of this one with a belt sander and then files- you can also cut out most of the material with a band saw or even a hack saw--this will give you an idea...

I took it in a little further...

It's about 1/2" in now.
Bow Shooting (http://www.flickr.com/photos/79847035@N03/7323490518/)
Here are the first three arrows shot by my first bow... I haven't shot a bow in about 15 years so if my form is bad that is why :)
Great job!! Looks like it shoots well too.
Great job !
Nice! You have serious skills!
Thanks for the kind words :) I just hope number two goes just as well! My second one will be for the wife, she wants cherry lams with an ash core and a solid cherry riser... but that's after I secretly build my hickory longbow :bigsmyl: :bigsmyl:
I am amazed every time I see a new bow picture on this forum, everyone here has serious skills!! Lots of talented bowyers!
