Title: U-Finish
Post by: Sharpend60 on May 23, 2012, 10:41:00 AM
Does anyone out there make a 3 piece recurve, u-finish kit?

I know there are several one piece longbows, but I think I'm more of a recurve guy. Even my self bows have been recurves lately...

I dont have the space for a smelly glue up but would like to shape my own riser and what not. Also I own no power tools..

Any one know where to score one?

Look up Kegan McCabe's Omega longbows.  Yeah, I know you said recurve, but these are more of a hybrid limb shape.  I'm fixing to order one myself.  They're made to hunt, not look at.  He only uses domestic hardwood, but you're not going to beat the price for a custom bow.

Scott what type are you interested in?  I don't live to far from you.  Maybe we can work something out.  I would be happy to assit you we could get something glued together and you could finish on your own.

That sounds great.
Id love to be more involved than just ordering something over the internet

I was thinking a 3 piece recurve, sorta a slim riser. Narrow limbs if I had a choice.
Doesn't have to be overly complicated.

I have a bow blank for a 45#@28" AMO 60" hybrid recurve from Lakeside Archery. It has a yellowheart, purpleheart and bloodwood riser, black glass and bloodwood tips. It just need the riser to be shaped and the final sanding and finishing to be done. Here are some photos of the blank and of a finshed Thunderhawk bow. I'd like to get $125 TYD for it. Let me know if you have any interest.

Thanks,
Jeff

An attractive offer but I think I'd like to stick with a take down. I travel quite a bit, not always to hunt but I like to take a bow when I can.
It's just easier to stow one in your checked bag.

I know Ive seen u-finish recurves round somewhere.
Long bows are in currently in vogue. But I already own a handfull of them.

Trying to learn a thing or two while I diversify!
