I'm looking for a few options on limb tip shapes and designs for my T/D recurve bow. If you have any photos to share please post them.
Thanks,
Ron
030 red glass, 1/16" black phenolic, 030 red glass and used 020 walnut veneer on top on this recurve. (http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt46/Robertfishes/feb2012bow15tip.jpg)
1/16 black phenolic, 030 glass,1/16" phenolic and veneer on top, this is the way I was shaping tips 2 years ago, I am trying to streamline them now, one day i will perfect the tips... (http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt46/Robertfishes/bow7tip.jpg)

Lots of nice work here!
Having nice tips really sets off a bow and makes the difference between just a bow and a work of art.
I'm still trying to get tips that I'm satisfied with.
Wow, some very detailed tip work. Very nice.

Hey Trux, those are really cool!
are you guys pre sanding the tapers on those before glueing them on, or sanding the fade in after glueing on- or a bit of both???

I put about a 45 degree angle on the bottom piece- I don't worry about the others- they all get tapered once I start shaping the nicks.
Is there a special tool that makes cutting in the nock a bit cleaner and easier once is roughed in?
I sometimes pre taper and sometimes not. Just be careful and either way works well.
I use a good chainsaw file for nock grooves.

Not a great picture but this is one of mine. Less pointy and more rounded, the way I like them. Less mass in the tips.
