I'm starting my first project bow this week and just had a question about the finish on the zebrawood. What do you guys think will look best....? Should I just leave it natural or will it look better under the glass with a dye? And if you think I should go the dye route which ones would you suggest???
Thanks ahead of time for the help. I'm sure I will have plenty more questions in the near future!!
Leave it natural. The glue and the glass will make the color pop out. Looks great. IMHO
I agree with David
No dye needed for your zebrawood- it really looks nice once it is glued up.

No dye neededd IMHO
Thanks guys.
Those bows look great. Being as new to this as anybody can be I was confused how everybody got the color of the wood to pop like that. It makes sense the glue and glass will bring out the color I was looking for.
+1 on natural. I have it in a couple bows and it looks great
Zebrawood can be a lighter color like the veneers I used in this bow. I used the lightest colored I could find because this bow was for Helen to use outdoors at FITA and other field shoots.. I would use a darker zebra for myself. I have seen some flat cut veneer that looks awesome, most is quarter sawn like mine. Hi i have a question for anyone who uses zebrawood? has anyone ever used it for a all wood bow or doesn't it have the desired charictristic of say hickory, or osage, yew,or any other wood? thank you
That's a good quesiton tishtail, wish I could help you but I've never used it without glass.
Might want to start a different thread, I'll bet more than one of these guys has tried it.
Wouldn't a bamboo backed Zebra bow look nice.
