So I just got laid off my day job... yippie! I think this is my 5th lay off is 4 years.. love that economy..
So, I got time to build some bows!
I picked up this awesome piece of tigerwood today that I am going to use as the main body of a riser for a recurve takedown. Trying to decide on an accent wood:

I am not sure.. I am leaning toward the red Paduak or using a light wood and staining it black. What do you guys think?
Also got this piece of wood from my neighbor.. he didn't know what it was. I am guessing by the weight and look it is a rosewood.. but not 100% sure about it.
Also trying to pick an accent for it as well.

Usually it just comes to me, but I am having a creative block.
Thanks for the help guys
Tigerwood & the third from left that looks like cocobolo or rosewood would be sharp.
X2 on the cocobolo, rosewood
Love the red too!
Hahahah! Nice try. Whenever I come into the house with a stack of different bow making wood the family scatters so they do not have to help choose the wood for the next bow... but if you want the contrast go with the cocobolo but I think a thin strip of the yellow wood between the tiger and zebra could look good.
So you guys dont think the two woods having a lot of grain next to each other will look funny? That is honduras rosewood by the way.
Thanks for the help
Third from left is my vote as well with a light maple or other white wood as a footed accent stripe would be very cool.
With tiger being sorta medium tone, I would go dark or light on the accent. I like contrast. Lots of grain is no problem...good grain goes with about anything!
All right... I agree about the dark and light.. contrast. I usually go with contrast or complement the color.
In my pea brain, I was thinking that the two busy grain patterns might be to much. I will take a pick of the tigerwood and rosewood
That combo is going to look fantastic, can't wait to see the bow.
