Title: Plan D.
Post by: wood carver 2 on March 19, 2012, 10:12:00 PM
I was just wondering if gluing tip underlays would help stiffen slightly weak tips. My plan D bow is a R/D bamboo/hickory/bamboo tri-lam. I forgot to add tip wedges at glue up and the tips are bending a bit more than I would like.
I also made a small indent on the edge about 8" from one tip when I got careless while sanding the profile. I noticed that this is causing a hinge . The bow is still a bit wide so I was going to carefully sand along the edges to remove the dent. Am I right in thinking (hoping)that this might eliminate the hinge?
Sorry I don't have any pictures. I'll post some tomorrow if you need to see the problems.
Thanks.
Dave.

Regulat tip overlays won't help any. You can add an underlay to stiffen the tips.

Thanks Pat. As soon as the weekend gets here I'll add underlays onto those tips. Hopefully this one will become a shooter.      :D
