Title: Takdown R/D
Post by: mzombek on March 12, 2012, 02:05:00 PM
I am thinking of trying a takedown R/D longbow. I have made 4, 1 piece longbows. How tough is it to make one?

Two piece or three piece?    I'm building and two piece r/d longbow for my swap bow.  It hasn't been to complicated yet.

Three piece bows aren't much harder just takes a little more time.

One piece longbows are fairly easy to lay up, and because the limb length on take downs are shorter (34" vs 72") they are somewhat even easier to lay up.

The most critical aspect of sticking two limbs on a riser is getting them lined up just right.

You dont have to ask how I know this one....  :campfire:

MIke is correct on the most important part. Not too hard otherwise. the limbs lay up nice and easy.
