Purty dog gone nice for your first bow, congrats.. ^5 Roy
Yah know Roybert Redford your right, that is a nice bow for a first. But something is missing amongst all these pictures.....hmmmmmm????
Full draw?

Not too bad at all. Your tips are a bit soft and your fades are a bit stiff. But hey, first bow that gets to full draw is a winner. Nice job! Got another started yet?
Im really new to this, but the fades, particularly the bottom one look stiff.
The bow looks amazing though. Being your first puts you lightyears ahead of most aspiring Bowyer's.
Yea I agree....great first effort! Keep it up!
Great looking first, has some issues but i havent seen a first bow not have some. Nice job getting a shooter.
thanks guys
PD what do you mean when you say the tips look a little soft, and everyone else please critic ill try to get a side view of it braced on here tomorrow.
Congrats on your bow. What did you back it with?
Denim
PD no I don't have another started yet went home depot looking through there wood and nothing looked good my little boy came down with steep throat yesterday so I haven't had time to go to another store to check but I cant wait till I get another one going. I think the next one I'm gonna make wider at the fades and make the riser around 11" instead of 8" gonna see if I can lay the fade angle down abit
Great first bow! My first turned into firewood. My second may end up the same way. But I'm determined to get a shooter before Baseball season.
Man you did a great job on those knocks.. congrats on your first. Warning....... bows are like pringles...... once you start you cant stop
Very nice for your first Bow, be proud. Soft tips means they are bending a little too much. Have you heard about the gizmo tool? There is a thread on how to make and use one. It will aid in tillering a bow. Below is a link to it.

I don't see the soft-tip thing, I just see alot of handle. I have an unbacked yew bow with stiff handle, fades, and tips and it has shot many thousands of arrows.
This bow looks good and I would shoot it with sufficiently heavy arrows and tweak to reduce any vibration. Even with a little I might leave it alone and move on.
Yeah I'm shooting a 660 grain arrow., I haven't noticed any vibration at all and its pretty quite.
Roy I'm gonna have to build one of those gizmos those r cool I guess they work pretty good what length do y'all use by length I mean the actual length that touches the belly when u run it down the limb
I made mine 6 inches long.
Mine is about 6 inches long. I just took a scrap piece from my first board and mitre sawed each end of it. One hole in the middle just a little bit too small for a pencil, and presto! a gizmo. Granted, it's probably about #2 on the list of least impressive gizmos ever made, but hey, whatever works, right?
However, if you want to make a gizmo that doesn't look like junk, here's a how-to from Eric Krewson himself

its def soft at the tips........ in danger of being whip tillered. But man congrats you did a great job. I just copied your tip style on my kids bow....... love those overlays!
Yeah I really like bocote, but it doesn't like Tripoli or least.these pieces didn't took a couple.days before it wasn't tacit and on the oak it was just a couple of hours
