I have been using Minwax wipe-on polly and really like the results with the exception of the yellowing. Is there another finish that will not yellow and work as well. Anyone use Tung Oil?
Tru Oil
Can't beat Tru-oil because it's a repairable finish. Same with tung oil. And you can add other finishes over them as well. Or finish over other finishes. For your neck of the woods, finish well!
X's 3 on Tru oil, absolutely the best finish out there in my opinion.
I love Tru Oil. I small bottle has done 3 Muzzle loader stocks and 3 bows for me with still lots left. I usualy do 6 coats.
Tru-Oil for me also. If you don't want a shiny finish just rub it down with #0000 steel wool to the finish you like and wax with a good furniture paste wax. Bob
Yall using Tru oil on glass bows
I have used it on glass bows. It looks nice.
I have one of Canada BBowyers tru Oil finished glass bows, it is beautiful. Actualy the bow is on loan to a new shooter and he loves it.
tung oil and teak oil are easy to apply and look great.
John...........
I like to use a lot of white glass accents in my bows and would like a wipe on finish that doesn't yellow over time. I have used a lot of tru-oil (muzzleloader days) and it is the KING of wipe-on finishes but it yellows with time. I will try the Tung-oil and Teak-oil. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

I use tongue oil all the time, love it. There are two types of tongue oil. I use the type you wipe on and let dry for 6 or 7 minutes and buff off with a dry rag. Usually do 4 coats, letting each coat dry 24 hours. No dust and no runs.
Let me start by saying I'm not a bowyer and have never even refinished a bow, but it's my understanding that the Minwax water based wipe on poly goes on clear without yellowing. How it holds up over time or if it's even right for bow finishing, I don't know, but it might be worth looking in to.
