What effect does a shorter riser have on poundage and how per inch ? Can't seem to find my note book and don't want to go the wrong way with my limbs.
Shorter riser should increase draw weight. Take bear takedowns for example one set of limbs could be 60''(bow length)/48#, 64''/46#, 69''/42#.
A shorter riser will decrese draw weight if the bow is the same length. It increases the length of the working limb.As far as how much,it would depend on the design of the bow.I would guess 3 to 5 pounds per every 2",decrease in riser length.
Looks like it depends on what you plan to do with the limb length in relation to the shorter riser as well.
What Jorgy said...
So if you are making a 60" bow.. and keeping it 60".. then a shorter riser means longer limbs.. less poundage. And if memory serves me right, it is closer to the 5 lbs per 2" depending on limb width. I always use 1 3/4" widths.
Thanks guys , gluing two risers now and couldn't remember which way it went. Both will be 1 3/4" limbs. Maybe I"ll make a longer limb first and see what the poundage comes out at.
