Was thinking about trying one in my next bow to see what happens. For those of you that use them I was wondering about some dimensions for a R/D longbow? I was planing on using either tapered glass about 4-6 inches not sure though on thickness. 30,40, or 50 glass feathered out.
Also would I need a power lam with tip wedge ot can I use just a tip wedge. I have used power Lams only before. Just wanting to experiment some. The bow already has a good profile. Thanks.
Shawn.
I have used them and they were about .030 and in the six inch long range. They will make the end of your limb stiff which will give you a better string angle at ful draw. Will also shorten the working lenght of the limb. I would use a light weight wood instead of glass in order to save a little limb mass. I don't think it is a requirment that you use a p/l with the tip wedge, it really depends on what you are wanting the limb to do.
I definetly understand having a good limb profile and wanting to experiment. Always looking for perfection.
Thanks Jess. I'll use some aboo cut offs starting at 30.
Shawn
Shawn- what Jess said- the ones I use on longbows are 4"s and I usually make them out of wood instead of glass.
Thanks David I'm going to try one comeing up but not the next one because its my swap bow and that wouldnt be right if it came out bad.
