Title: Tiller string to Regular string
Post by: BigErn on January 25, 2012, 08:50:00 PM
What are you looking for when you switch from the tiller string to the regular string?
                        Thanks Ernie

If the limbs are bending pretty evenly and it looks like I can bring it close to brace height I switch right then. Everyone says the long string lies and I hate liers so I get rid of it as soon as I can. I haven't had one lie to me yet but they are never around long enough to get the chance.

Once I get a bow to brace height I make a new string just for it.

If it is within 10# of weight and bending well to 16" or so, I brace it.  But my tiller string is adjustable so I shorten along hte way stating with 2" or so in brace and then moving an inch or so at a time.

I look for good bending of the limbs and target weight at 10 inches of string movement. Then I brave it. More on my site. Jawge
