A bunch of us got together at Roy's on Sunday, 1/22, to work on bows. Quite a bit of bowyering actually was done, but it gave us all some great reasons to get together: old friends, new friends, good food & drink, stories from last hunting season, shoot a few arrows, and the general sharing of information in the Tradgang spirit.
Thanks for hosting Roy, thanks for the great ham BBQ Chris, and thanks for the root beer and spiced apple pie Denny!

It was a good time as always but Im sorry I left early. Just a little down in the dumps after finding the crack in my hickory bow. As soon as I get another stave, I'll be back at it.
The first ever RoyJam!
Was Raspberry Shock Top ale involved...I hear its kinda spendy out that way.
Stiks, we have had a lot of these Bownanzas..
There were 9 of us making bows yesterday, from BBO's, to selfbows, to glass bows. Plenty of chips, saw dust, and good ole B.S. flying.

Kevin working on his Hickory stave, but as he got down into the wood, a couple bad cracks appeared.

Had to bend Kens bow a couple times.

Had Ken practice making string grooves.

Thanks for posting the pictures Roy. I couldn't do it from my iPhone. I'll try again from a real computer...

Tom thinks Tyler might be strong enough to handle this bow:

Roy has a great shop, lots of room, clean air, and everyone feels at home.

LMAO on the last picture Alan.. The wife bought me that sign on the bottom. Ya gotta love a great wife:)
I absolutely love it. You guys have to admit that you actually LIKED that Raspberry ale...come on you know you wanna. Its like those little tiny finger sandwiches at lady parties. You know the ones we all laugh at but then grab a dozen when noone is looking heh heh heh. I think I better get to figuring out this heat situation in my garage. I hate feeling so far behind before I even get started. Thanks for compliment guys!! Sure looks like you all had fun.
I wish o could just hop on a plane and hang out roy. It looks like a good time. Im putting one on here feb. 25 if you can make it.
Three of the guys kept going outside to shoot in the snow the bows they were working on, or brought along, but I forgot to take pictures of them. Plus that raspberry beer did me in, LMAO, not....
I played it smart and shot in the basement:)

It looks like a great time and I see several cool bows in those pics. Nice work guys. Im suprised that sissy beer didnt drive ya' to get out the pink stain and white string material! I cant believe Roybert let it in the shop........
Took the Osage backed with Hickory out of the clamps 10 minutes ago. Looks good to me.

Looks like you all had a heck of a time!
Always good times with fellow bowmakers...looked like fun. How does this western PA boy get invited to the next royjam? I hang out with another guy in the same county as me(beaver) and another buddy up in clarion who also have the disease.
Just keep in touch on here and your in the next one, Chris.. We had a guy from Beaver County at this one. Lives in West Pittsburg, not far from Ellwood City.
Right there is a guy that knows a thing or two about self bowery Roybert Redford! I have worked side by side a few times with Mr. Mockingbird. He has my vote for a new member in your SW PA Bowyers Club.
Pearly, your only 6 hours away, I'll invite you to the next one. We have a spare room here for ya, but ya gotta share it with the dog:)
Roy its an eleven hour drive for me to pittsburg, maybe can borrow dads 32mpg car and make the trip.
I'll spring for half a train ticket Dave, ifin ya bring me a couple Osage billets:)

If ya don't mind telling me who or send me his contact info ill get ahold of him cus we get together about once a month or so to work on bows.
My one buddy I occasionally hang with who lives in beaver county lives in ellwood. He has an undeveloped 60 acres piece of property he's thinking of having a shin dig at over the summer..camping,bowmaking,hawk throwing, atlatls, maybe some rock breaking..etc...maybe try to arrange some pa boys together for some good ole times.
He is only on his first bow, Chris. He doesn't post much at all on here.
Well..if he wants any help then there's a couple guys real close by to him if he wants it...as long as its not glass...we don't do glass. If ya talk to him sometime soon let him know if he doesn't see it here on this post.
