Ooh tempting because I'll be missing OJAM this year due to an unforeseen situation that needs my attention in Africa.  A cape buffalo and some plains game need to be put to sleep.  Let me know what weekend y'all are planning on building and I might make a roadtrip.  Might possibly bring a friend, Will, as well.

Man that sounds like a blast! I'd love to make it, but having transportation issues at the moment until I get a vehicle. If anybody will be coming past Park Hills, Mo. (South east Mo. not far from St. Genevieve off of 67 hwy) and has room for an extra body and a back pack shoot me a PM. I got money for gas and will kick in on sleeping accomodations. I'd really like to meet some of you all and I couldn't make it to MOJAM last year, maybe this year?

I just saw this thread and am very interested in coming. I'm a newbie for sure, but have began to aquire the tools and reading/viewing materials to begin building, but I'd love a hands on approach with experienced builders. I'm gonna check my schedule and see what I can do to try and make it out. What do I need to bring/costs involved, etc....

Take hwy 70 to the hwy K/M exit in O'fallon and go north onto hwy M or as we call it Main St.  Continue on Main St. about 1 mile and the place is on the left.  You will cross a set of railroad tracks, then a large stone church on your left.  The address is 429 North Main.  If you pass a circle K on the right then you have gone too far.  I will have my phone on and you can call for help if you get lost.  6362625562

Kelly, I'm mad at you and now we arent talking!

I'm going to try to pick up an Osage stave today to bring along.

I need something other than my awesome bow blank to start all over again after over 15 years of not working on a bow.

I'll bring a couple of my favorite shooters along as requested.

Dave I'll stick those extra draw knives in as well.

You can expect Cobweb and me when you see us pull in...lol

God bless,Mudd

PS: This means so much to me that I'm going to make it even though gas prices are way high and my bank account is.... "Oh my God!".... scarey low.

Ok, I'm home and I'm tired, but here they are.  We had an awesome time I think.  Everyone left with all their digits.  We had about 15 or 16 people total, with a lot of bull shot and a lot of shavings made. Some worked and some helped and some just hung out.

Watered down deer chili kept people there a bit longer. I think they left after food poision started to take effect.

Almost the full crew.

First I'd like to thank the host David (DVSHunter), and Chris (H8noncubs). I had a great time, and a LONG day. (Oh yeah I made it home okay...LOL!) 23 hours and 40 minutes was the official result for the day for me. 10.5 hours driving, and the rest having fun with all of the fellas in the pics.

I gotta throw out BIG thanks to all who helped this NEWBIE learn, (or at least attempt to learn) to chase some rings on Osage, and answer some other questions about self bows in general.

Special thanks to MUDD, and Grey Buffalo for the very nice gestures. (I got a nice draw knife from MUDD, and a few Osage pieces to practice on from Grey Buffalo).

I had a blast with all of you and hope to share some more time together soon. Thanks

I am glad you had such a great turn out. The only reason I am not crying is I got to have a great day with the wife.

Thanks for sharing and making the rest of us jealous.

To those in attendance yesterday I owe an apology in that I gave no warning of my arrival.(no yodels)

The area was small and I could plainly see that no one had hearing protection so I refrained from my normal yodel greeting.

I thought it would be just awful if for the remainder of the day to listen to a bunch of folks repeating over and over...huh?... what did you say.

I would have felt badly if I knew I had damaged anyone's hearing....you need that sense for better hunting.

God bless,Mudd

Judging from the stories of 0600 wakeups at MOJAM, Im pretty sure we were all thankful that you refrained from yodeling.

It was great finally meeting the famous Mudd anyway! And your gesture of the drawknife to americanhunter was phenomenal. He is hooked now I think.

Scott

No apology neded mudd. I just assumed you only model at six and since you arrived late thanks to a traffic accident we got lucky.  :) .

I had a great time too, and was so tired when I got home I didn't even get to due the glue UPS I wanted. At least I have a project for today.

John, I'm glad to hear you made it home safe.  With gas being at 3.68 a gallon, driving your truck that far for one day of bowbuilding definitely puts you in the crazy bunch with the rest of us.  Chris's wife said we were crazy for waking up at 430.

Nothing quite like a day surrounded by guys all making bows. And talking bow hunting.

Not only was their a 75 yer old Earl Hoyt bow blank an display, but a Earl Hoyt Yew flat bow was brought in by a new convert from wheels.  He had a real nice set-up that his grandfather used to use.  Rawhide quiver, old arrows, a horn to start shoots off with.  Also nice to see him work 4 hours straight on a hickory stave.  You need a bandsaw Dave.  That 18 inch powermatic is still for sale.lol

Wait, didn't chris say no one was allowed to say "bandsaw" any more? Lol

bandsaw, bandsaw, bandsaw!  Funny, when we got back, Chris had his new grizzly catalogue at the house.  I've got Andrews number now, and scouts too. Those guys along with John were machines!

Scott, Chris is not the boss of me, and they are getting a bandsaw.  And Tyler when Chris is on a stave you cannot beleive how fast his arms are moving.  He got a full blown stave with bark on down to one ring and sides cleaned up in about 45 minutes.

IT takes me about an hour, maybe less depending on the thickness of the stave when I start.  No bandsaw needed whit arms like these  :saywhat:
