Title: Which paint spray gun to buy?
Post by: David Flanrey on December 29, 2011, 02:42:00 PM
What do you guys use to apply the finish to your bows?
I rub on Tru Oil on my self bows but have been buying those disposable aerosol applicators at ACE to spray on the finish on my glass bows.  I want to improve the finish on my glass bows.

If you want to try a cheaper route....Try the $10-$15 "touch up" air spray guns from Harbor Freight.  These are the only things that I use and I generally get about 20 to 25 bows out of a gun before it is so gunked up with epoxy that I buy a new one.  I finish most of my bows with a matte frosted finish and these guns work just fine for that.  Here is a link to the picture of the one I am talking about.

I use a HF 20 oz gravity feed gun, works well and you can get it for around $16.

wow people have some nice equipment..... u dont need that crazy a setup its nice but u dont need it.
often if u buy the cheapest gun possible u get very bad seals that anything solvent based will eventualy eat and then u will need to buy another one.
I have bought stuff from spraygunworld.com theres some good economic solutions on there plus high end stuff.
a 1.0 tip would be all u need but u will need to thin what ever u decide to spray. a 1.0 tip will give u light thin coats.
pmm if u have any questions
