Title: Bamboo stair tread
Post by: Thadbow on December 22, 2011, 04:37:00 AM
I wanted to try to grind some vertical grain bamboo lams so I picked up a stair tread 1x12x48.  When I started ripping it down, I noticed a few voids or hollow spots. Is this a common problem with bamboo planks and flooring and is there anything better out there?

I see mostly bad glue lines, there is some throwaway to all of it IMO.

The verticle bamboo flooring seems to be more uniform, cheaper to use with less waste. It can be bought in 3 1/4" X 5/8" X 74 3/4" long. Packaged 12 pieces per package.
