Title: Good rattle can finish??
Post by: 8leg-lover on December 19, 2011, 09:35:00 AM
Hey Gang,

I have a 3 pc LB that I've sanded the finish off of (too shiny for my taste). I took the riser down to wood and I've just scuffed the limbs so far.

What's a good satin spray that I can get at one of the big box stores that will work good and provide a durable finish?

Thanks in advance,

Ive never had one not work. Just make sure the bow is dry and buff between coats. Three coats minimun for me. More coats equals a thicker, more durable finish to me.

Helmsman spar urethane. Spray gloss first (it's tougher), then throw a coat of satin on last if you don't want the shine. I put 2-3 light coats on before I sand with a 320 grit thin sanding sponge in between coats. Very durable stuff.
