!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I gave it some thought and decided to form a bow swap committee of sorts for the purpose of making any decisions should any problems arise concerning any important issues. It is formed of 7 members and any and all changes from here on out will be put to a vote.
Swap committee members
Stiks-N-Strings
KellyG
PatB
RoyfromPA
DVShunter
Shaun
Walt Francis
Should any issues arise all decisions will be discussed among the committee and voted on as big as this got last year I expect it to be bigger this year and I figure this is the best way to keep everything fair. The main reason is to keep everything and every one in check and to deal with anyone that would try to recieve a bow and skip out. We will do anything and everything in our ability to make sure that never happens again.
Gonna go ahead and start this to give some folks an extra week of planning and building.
sign ups will be closed at midnight January the 7th
READ ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS!!!!!!!!!
The only change this year is....
Contact phone # is Required! You can just send it to me or Kelly Privately and it will be added to the spread sheet and kept private.
Any one that was asked not to ship on account of their recipient being lat will not be on the list of shippers to hold
If you shipped late or are a new sign up your builder will be holding your bow until you ship and provide either me or Kelly a tracking # and we OK your builder to ship. This is the only way we can keep someone from receiving and not sending.
Kelly and my self discussed this as well as a few other participants through pm's and it is the only way we can figure to stop some one from receiving and not sending. Myself and Kelly will be on this list so don't take it personal.
We have had a few out of country entries in the past. I don't have an issue shipping out of country but if any one does send me a PM and I will take care of it. I shipped a bow to switzerland last year for around 45-50$ and figure it will should be roughly the same for anywhere else. If you have an issue with it just send me a PM. It does cost a small fortune to ship to Africa, You can ship a TD to Africa for around 50 or 60 bucks.
Stiks
DEADLINE IS the July 7th for shipping
KellyG WILL BE GATHERING INFO (Thanks buddy!)so if you get a PM from him you know what's up.
If he already has it from last year he will let you know and if anyhthing has changed you can let him know. I will be tracking 1/2 the builders and kelly will cover the other half.
READ ALL RULES BEFORE SIGNING UP
#1 There will be a 30 day grace period after the final to be shipped date. Any bows not shipped by then and I will ask you to forward the bow you receive to your recipient. The only exeptions will be made by Kelly and My self and a few other members I intend to contact
The only way We will make any exceptions to this rule is if you contact us and let us know what is going on. We do understand things happen and We are willing to work with anyone should an emergency arise, But YOU HAVE TO KEEP COMMUNICATION OPEN AND STAY IN TOUCH WITH us. No exceptions!
Okay here we go.
The way we'll do this to insure everybody get's a bow they can shoot is draw names. If you want in post here and at the end of sign up I will draw names and PM or email to the builder who your bow is going to and the specs desired.
#1 When you post that you are in also post your draw length and desired draw weight within a 5 or 10 pound range and right or lefthanded. (example.. 45-50 or 40-50) Also state whether you will be building a glass or wood bow, one pice or TD for the trade. I need to know this for shipping purposes out of country.
#2 When you post pics during the build DO NOT state in any fashion whom your bow is going to.
#3 I have given this alot of thought and to keep it as honest as possible no one who has signed up to TradGang after the date of this post can enter. I hate to exclude anyone but have heard of it here in past trades that one guy or another did not get a return on his trade and DO NOT want that to happen.
#4 The time frame for the build will be about 6 months and the bow you built should if anyway possible be shot in. Bows need to finished and shipped by the last day of June
#5 There was a few concerns about liabilty so I will throw in that any one who receives a bow in this trade is doing so at his/her own risk and in no way holds any one resposbible in any way should a misfortune occur due to use of such bow.
#6 if you are building a glass bow and only want a glass bow in return or vice versa for wood bowyers please state this in the sign up, otherwise you may recieve a glass or wood bow.
There we have it. I tried to keep it as simple as possible and keep everybody happy. So let the building and swapping commence.
Have fun! Kris
Looks Like I am the first to sign up... I will be building a glass one piece longbow, send me anything 45#, +/-5#. I like the new shipping rules so add me to the list since this is my first time.
Looks like I got too excited... I draw 29" and shoot RH bows and make RH bows.
i am in- for sure!!
i will be building a yew self bow.
i would like a right handed 40 to 50 # bow at my 29.5 "
thanks
wayne
I'm in.
Building a wood bow
Shoot right handed any thing from 45# to 55# @28" wood or glass makes me no difference.
Count me in again.
I will be doing a wood bow of some sort.
I shoot right handed and will take anything in the 55# range +/- 5# or so. 29" draw
I'm not fussy just love making and getting.
Put me in,
I shoot either left or right handed.
Anywhere between 45 and 65# @ 29".
I am not prejudice, a glass, wood laminated, or selfbow works just fine.
I will make whatever my recipient wands: a selfbow, wood laminate, our glass bow.
Here we go again!
I'm in.
I'll be building a selfbow.
I'll shoot anything right handed, 50-55# @ 29".
I would like to get in as well.
I will be making a wood bow, one piece.
I am right handed, 28" draw, 60# + or - 10#
Don't care the bow type I receive.
Thanks
Mike
I'm in also. I will be making a selfbow.
I draw 26" and anything between 45#-60# and right handed. Whatever the builder wants to build is fine with me.
Thanks Kris and Kelly. Let me know if I can help!
I'm in! I will be building a bamboo or hickory backed longbow (RH). One piece (I never built a takedown and I won't experiment on another person).I am right handed, 28 inch draw, 45# to 55#. Any type of bow. This is a whole new adventure!
Thanks to everyone.
Dave.
So exciting!!!! I'm in! I'll be building a glass lam bow
Im right handed 28" draw 50 to 60#.
Osage self bow, glass or wood lam would be cool in return....
Thanks to the organizers for all your hard work!!!!
sign me up. im right handed 45-55#@28 it doesnt matter if its a selfbow or wood composite or wood/fiberglass composite.
Thanks Kris and Kelly! As always, I'm really looking forward to this! I will be building a wooden bow (osage selfbow most likely). I shoot right handed and 35-40# @ 26" I'm not fussy about what kind of bow I receive.
:)
I'm in. I'll be making a one piece wood bow, either a selfbow or laminate. I shoot right handed from 40-60 lbs and draw 28". Don't have a preference on what type of bow I receive.
I'm in. Will be making a selfbow of some kind. Would like a glass bow if possible, if not anything will be ok. I shoot RH 55-65# @ 28".
I'm in too.
I don't care what kind of bow I get.
I would like it to be 50-55# at 28". RH
I will be making a bamboo backed or selfbow, maybe even a sinew backed bow.
Yay! Count me in!
I will be making an osage selfbow or bamboo backed or sinew backed bow.
I would prefer a right handed selfbow. 50-60 lbs at 26 inches
Sounds like the fun begins soon! Put me on the list fella's. I will be building either a self bow or all wood lam bow. I prefer 55-60# @ 29" in whatever flavor the builder prefers. They say your first is always the best! I hope its true!
Oh I am in this one also. I need address if you were not in the last one. If you were in the last one and have not changes just say you were in.
Oh I will be making a self bow.
0h 27" 45-55lbs and I am a lefty. The only kind of bow I want is one that will fling an arrow.
Count me in.... Right Hand 45-55 @ 27. I'll most likely build an all wood self bow of some sorts. This was way to much fun not to sign up again.
Pearl you RH handed?
We have 19 already.
ok ready to go again ill bulid a osage self bow ill shoot anything 50-60 rh 28 in draw brock
I would like in. I am right handed,40-45# draw weight,and 28"
Draw length. I will probably build an osage self bow, will take
Any type in return. I need to build one 50# or less because I
Won't be able to shoot in anything over 50#. My address is the same if you still have it.
Please add me to the list. I will be building a wood bow, probably osage or hackberry.
I am right handed and would like the draw weight to be from 45-52# @ 28" (50# @ 28" preferred), my draw is 29"
Any type in return.
Hey, I wasn't expecting this to start until after the first! Guess everyone is excited...
I'm in. I will be building either a glass, a selfbow, or something in between. I can't make up my mind just yet and it will probably depend on the recipient. I'm also happy to make it a TD and ship overseas if necessary.
In return I want something that flings an arrow. Preferably forward. RH, 50-60# @ 29" is ideal though.
I'm in again. I shoot right handed bows anywhere from 50-60 pounds. Glass or wood doesn't matter.
I'll be building a glass bow of some sorts that will be a take down model. Either a three piece or two piece takedown longbow.
Thanks shawn
Count me in!! I will be building a wood bow, possibly backed. Prefer 55-60# (or close enough), right handed, 28" draw. I'm with canopyboy, any type that flings a forward arra:)
I'm in also. I would prefer a glass bow this go-around, but would be happy with anything. RH, 55-60# @ 28"
I'll be building either an osage selfbow or a bamboo backed osage bow.
Thank you!
--Steve
Sign a brother up. Building a wood one piece bow. I am wanting anything 50lbs +/- 5lbs RH @ 30"
Man I wish I knew how to build a bow. I'll be watching this again this year. Great job last year and have fun! I love this thread! Thanks :campfire:
I'm in again this year! I'm quite excited for it. I'll be building a glass TD recurve.
I draw 55-60# at 28"
Right handed.
No preference on what kind of bow I receive.
I would like to participate (drinking a raspberry shocktop beer to celebrate the beginning of new swap)
I shoot right handed...45 to 55 @ 28" but a little heavier would also work nicely so no worries.
I will build a one piece wood and grass bow to whomevers specifications. Sure would like to do a takedown but dont want to experiment on someone elses bow.
I would like to participate as well.
I will be building a one piece glass bow
I draw 40-50# @28" right handed
I'm in, minus the Raspberry beer:) I'll be making a 64 inch r/d Osage longbow, backed with boo or hickory, with black horn tip overlays, and a curly maple riser.
I'd like either a glass or wood bow, 45 pounds at a 27.5 inch draw, RH.
Who do I pay to rig this? I want Roy's bow!!! J/K that sounds like a beautiful bow, cant wait to see it.
Just make the check out to Pat Brennan, rmorris!
Pat does have some connections
I'm in. Will be building a 1 piece Osage self bow. I need to limit finished poundage to 55 @ 28 due to shoulder age.
Would like any RH bow 45 to 50 pound @ 27".
Boy I sure hope I draw Roy...I have special plan for a bow build for him....Okay I lied, damn me. I really have NOTHING in mind for anyone at all. Grass backed wood is the main plan. Glass backed wood for a backup plan maybe...probably...I dunno. I am having a hard time making up my mind lately.
Count me in, I was anxious to see this start up again. I have Osage and will build a self bow. I shoot 30" and am right handed, 40-50 lbs is fine. It dosen't matter what I get back ( arrows are fine too - if thats allowed 40-50 lb spine ).
I believe it's best to keep it a bow swap.
Well we are up to 34.
Dang Kelly, you can count son:)
Yep Roy as long as I can take me boots off first.
How the hell did you get to 34 just by taking off your boots? The visual is not only astounding but slightly disturbing.
Not an arrow swap. If your builder throws in something extra that's fine but not required
I'll give it a go again. I'll probably build a hickory backed something!
I'm right handed and 45-55# @ 28" will do.
A glass bow would be nice as I don't have one but anything anyone wants to build is fine with me.
I've been debating whether to do this or not but what the heck I may as well. I will be building a hickory all wood one piece bow with some flipped tips as fancy as I can get it to whatever specs I need to make it to.
I shoot righty and would like any style at all pulling 45-55# @ 29" (over is fine too). Not picky on length.
I'm very excited now. I'm going to put my best efforts into this and I'm looking foward to seeing what I can do when I have to give it to sopmeone else. I'm pleased with my work so far but I want someone else to enjoy it too so sign me up! Thanks.
I'm really diggin' all of the posts. I'm really excited. Finishing up a couple-two-three projects then I can't wait to start building!
Man, this took off quickly! Thought I'd been watching for the sign-up. Must have dosed off.
Sign me up! I'm left handed, draw 26" and would like anything 50-60#.
Last go round Keenan fixed me up with exactly what I asked for... Sounds kinda like Santa doen't it?
I am not picky. Just enjoy the fellowship and good times keeping up with Kelly and his magic toes! :scared:
For anyone trying to decide about joining in, you'll never know till you try. I've learned more from the last swap than from any other one source. The experience is GREAT!
Red as lucky as you got last year in the draw I'm gonna talk to the bow swap mafia and see if we can set you up with a good piece of firewood :readit:
Roybert is the muscle in the bunch
Seriously though I was glad to see someone like yourself get a super sweet bow and look forward to seeing some hero pics with it.
Stiks
I would like to sign up for the swap. I will build a bamboo backed Ironwood longbow.
Thanks Rick.
First timer.
I will be making a bamboo and yew.
I would like a glass bow.
I shoot rh, 50@27".
Been waiting since seeing last year's pics.

Oh come on now, he just counts the tens on his toes.
:smileystooges:
If this thing goes past 100 he might have problems though.

I think it's all those brain cells killed by the toxic mix of raspberries and hops.
:knothead:
MmmmmmmMMmmmmm good....those raspberries and hops. Its TUESDAY night though so I was thinking maybe blueberry vodka and lemonade (try it, you will like it)
Sorry guys, I just saw Snakebit40's post and thought I could help out somehow. Thanks for the correction.
I'd like to give this a shot.I have followed this in the past, looks like fun.I'll build a glass bow,r/d,60# and under.I shoot right handed,28" draw,45-50#.Not fussy about bow type.
I forgot to say what I'll be making... I kinda favor the hickory backed osage flat bow. They're not too challenging but are great bows.
The style matches my ability pretty well since I'm still learning and developing. My HBO shoots quite well and fast.
Plan to keep my students involved on this year's swap. Some of them, boys and girls, are eating this up like crazy. :archer:
Oh, yeah! I've been puzzling over KellyG's counting technique and figure he must be filling notches in his toe nails. Only way I can think of that toes can help keep up with the numbers that are piling up.
How many today, Kelly? :saywhat:
We are up to 39. I can go up to 110 with my boots of f thanks.
Recurve319 what is your draw weight lengths and are you right and left handed.
OH and if this is your first year you need to send me your address so your bowyer will know where to send it.
Kelly,
I sent you an e-mail with my address, but,it was returned.Something about an error in the e-mail address.
Jordy just shoot me a PM then. I will check the email thing.
My AKO webmail is always a pain in the rear so I never use that one myself.
I'm in!! I'll build a wood bow and pray for a right handed recipient or I'll have to stand two feet from the target to shoot it in :)
I love this place, Thank You for the chance to participate!!
I shoot 45/50# at 27"s and right handed.,,, don't care if it's wood or glass, longbow or curve just love being part of the fun :)
Kelly pm sent...
Sure, I'll do this again. I'll make a glass laminated bow of some sort, of hunting weight. I'll shoot anything, I'm not particular.

Count me in. It's my first time so... I'll build a glass bow. My specs are 50-60# @ 29" right handed. Would prefer glass but doesn't have to be. Can't wait to get started!
Does that make 43 now, Kelly? I don't have magic toes, so my numerology may be off a few appendages.
This is gonna be a fantastic turn out this year.

My new word of the day!
I am in this year. Sat out last year trying to work on my bow making "skills" if that is what you call it.
I'll be making an osage selfbow. Got some really good wood from my friend Brian Oden.
Like Mike I am not particular about what I get.
I am right handed, 50-60# at 27" would be good for me.
Thanks guys for putting this together. I know it is a lot of work.
I fixed it.
Im in!!
I will be making a glass lam longbow (one piece)
I will take anything right handed and 45-55 pounds at 28"
thank you
Now we are up to 44. Five of you need to get me your addresses.
QuoteOriginally posted by Mike Mecredy:

I thought you meant to do it on purpose...
I actually used it the way your wrote it first two different times today. It definitely amused me each time. Thanks!
Canopyboy,
Mike might be one of those right brained guys (like myself) who tends to trnasopse letters when he gits ta typing too fast. Oh ya, I tend to hit the wrong keys tu. Dang Droid, me riting is a starten to look like a teenagers on deare fone. ;)
I will build a selfbow of osage.
I would like a 45-50# @ 27" bow, RH, glass or wood, or composite or whatever-I-get-I-will-love, style. Ya gotta put your heart into it though.
Peace and Happy Holidays!
I am in again. It is always a blast. I will be building a glass bow of some type. I would love a osage recurve or flatbow or longbow or any other wood or glass it really doesn't matter.
Can we build 2 bows for the swap?

Only if you draw my name....
Sure lee I would love two bows
Would that be one for me and one for my son? I will send you the address right now if thats the case....
You guys are sooooo very generous I can hardly wait to get started.

Kelly- sent you a PM
Thanks again to all the people who organize this shin dig!!!!
i really would like to join this but
1. i feel like i am still amateur.
2. i live in Turkey so will be expansive to send for both.
3. i have build 6 bows, 5 of them broken, 1 is working at 35-40#
on the other hand,
1. i have mulberry stave that i have already started for building. maybe this can be in?
so admins, please consider all before you count me in.
best.
Inksoup, either you want in or you don't. I have only built one bow myself. If you post your bow on here as you build it you will get help.
This was founded by Stiks to get new bowyers involved with more talented and experienced ones.
As in last year if any one does not want to ship out of the US/Canada area just shoot me a PM and it wont happen.
We did learn last year a take down is must of over seas to keep it keep the cost down.
inksoup we had a bow got to Europe and Africa last year.
so if you want to enter just post your draw weight, lengths and if you are right and left hand here.
Got some sweet shooting bows from the last two bow swaps so of course I'll join in again this year. I shoot right handed, any thing in the 45-60# range will work-prefer glass. I'll be building a glass bow... Could be a longbow, snubnose or recurve....
Ink,
Kelly said it, we can set it up for a TD to come your way. I sent my first shooter to swissbow in switzerland for about 50.00. I don't think it will be much more to turkey but I will find out for sure.
Stiks
Looks like another great event in the making!
Man, I shake my head doing this with the tough time I had last swap, but.....
I'm freakin in! I'm not sure what I'll be making, but it'll most likely be made of wood, and shoot arrows. It may also have a string!
If my bowyer can get within the range 0f 45-55#'s, right handed. I certainly have no preference as to what kind of bow, so long as it's not from someone who's had me before. I've already got 2 gorgeous bows from these gentleman, it's only fair to share the talent with others.
Let the shavings fly!
who you callin a gentleman, fish? lol
Glad yer in fish.. We needed someone to make fun of this year, besides Kelly:) LOL, just kidden dude..
Kate took it well last year. Fish seems like just the guy we are looking for.
Im in, probably make a selfbow maybe a bilam.
Im easy anything right handed 27" in the 40 to 90lb range.
Yup and rumor has it, Fish is into Raspberry Ale:)
well we are up to 50 as long as that was Joe's way of saying he is in this year also.
Kelly your toes must be getting cold, hanging out keeping track of this bunch of larikins. I just hope the banter that kicked up towards the end of last/this years swap and has continued here continues. It has been a lot of fun to read and join in on.
:deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse:
P.S. Still got a cherry stave drying for you and will send it on once I have time to reduce it to a mailing size.
Kelly I think Joe told me he was sitting this one out but we might be able to talk him into it :wavey:
Merry Christmas Joe and to all the rest here on the bench.
Fish, if I'm in this year then you better not back out. 'tween the two of us our luck has got to be better this year ;)a few of us had a rough go last year for sure.
Raspberry Ale is an acquired taste. I am secure in my manhood...hell I might make up a few pink fletched arrows to go with my 42 pound bow and then use em to shoot holes in something. Its usually sad to pass a torch but fish could probably make a good whipping boy...Probably shouldnt give him Raspberry Ale yet though...give him some weak doe pee like stuff such as PBR or Coors Light or something else that bottlers would throw out if it wasnt for cheapskates who drink the nasty stuff....bleck,
Count me in again. I"ll make something out of glass.45-55 right hand, don't care what I get in return.
Lay off the PBR and Coors light Kate, or else I'm heading west to thump ya a good one girl:)
Im in. will make an osage selfbow. Im right handed and would be happy with any type of bow. would prefer a 45#-60# bow at 26". Merry christmas
Count me in.
LH 29"
45-55lbs
I will be making a wood bow.
I will take any kind of bow in return.
OHMAHGOD!!
I thought you was kidding. Around here we buy it cuz its like three bucks a six pack and makes a hell of an explosion when you shake em up on a hot summer day and sink a field tip through it. I didnt know people actually CONSUMED it.
Razor back thanks I can't wait it try my had at that wood. It may be a back up for this swap.
Ok with out Joe we are at 52.

How many times do you have to shoot it before you bows will penetrate aluminium cans? Haha
Just once....even my daughters 30 pounder shoots clean through a PBR can and creates a foamy beery mess. Must have cheap alluminum to go with the beer. No wonder I find them littering the ground around my favorite fishing holes. I think the guys drinking it are too embarrassed to bring them to the recycling center.
As bad as I hate to, I will not be entering this years swap. I already have 3 bows promised and I am afraid I won't have time for a 4th bow for the swap.
MyTG Member Osage Selfbow Promise List:
Tony Chinn
Kris McDonald
Mike Rizzo
Thanks for thinking of me and I do plan to be a follower of this swap thread. I am sure I will regret my decision but I do not want to over commit myself and not meet the deadline again this year.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!!
Ill get in again. I shoot 50 lbs. and like short bows of the fiberglass lam type. Ill make a fiberglass bow also.
Mark
Mater, welcome back to the swap. I enjoyed making your bow 2 years ago, but hope you get one this year that will work for you shooting style.
So Kate, yer sayen ya shoot 30 pound bows now? :)
We were last summer when we were camping :)
Come spend some time with brother in law in the gym, hes a personal trainer, and he can even help YOU work up to a 30 pound bow Roy.
WooHoo!
Count me in.
Ive have really enjoyed the last two.
I will be making an osage self bow but reserve the right to build a bamboo backed osage.
I shoot RH and would be glad to receive any bow from 50 to 60# @ 28.
Thanks for all you guys do to put this together.
Me too,mer too.
same boat as BrianO building osage selfbow or bbo maybe ibo who knows i just want in.
Draw 27 55+/- no prefernce on materials just hopin for a back-up(maybe a t/d) for an elk hunt next year!(at brocks place hopefully)
I am new to the swap but want to participate. I think it is an opportunity to really build the best bow you can when it goes to someone else. I will build a bamboo backed Osage either straight limbed or slight r/d. I am right handed , shoot 28 inch draw and anything around 50-55 lb is good. Anything is good but would love a self bow as I have not taken that plunge yet as a bowyerand would like to see a good example for inspiration/ instruction. Will pm Kelly with my particulars.
I'm in, I watched this thread all year last year! I'm still pretty green on the bow building but have learned alot in the last year and a half or so! I will be building either an osage or hackberry self bow.
I'm a lefty and draw 27" anything between 40-55 pounds works for me!
I am hoping I get Roy so that I can build him one of our "Montana Special" 40 pounders....the magic is in the arrow (too bad I am such a crappy hunter)
I'm in too. I can't let you guys let have all the fun here. I'll build a glass bow and I'm going to be happy with whatever I get.
I'm a right hand shooter and I draw 60-65@27.
----------
Andy
Ok we are up to 58 entered. looking at my list about half of them are new to the swap.
I still need a a of about 3 addresses from the new ones.
good luck and hope yall made it thru Christmas ok.
OK.... guys and gals
Ya'll talked me into it again this year. Just kidding like has already been stated to much fun to miss out on!
I'll be making an osage selfbow for my swap bow.
I draw 26inches.. 45-55lbs.. right handed and I'll shoot wood/glass/or whatever someone wants to send my way.
Just one request "BOSWELL" and I don't draw each other. I think he will be signing up soon also.
Thanks for doing this David
Kelly looks like we're gonna have a bit of a turnout.
I can't remember what the # was last year but I think it was over 80.
Think it was 84 or 85?
I plan on making some bows this year so I can join in the fun next year. Have fun, I know I'll have fun watching it again! :campfire:
Well Stiks we shall see, it was 85 sign up last year.
There are still a lot who was in it last year who did have not signed up this year.
We have 59 so far.
Might be fun...I'll be making a selfbow. My draw is 26" and can handle draw weight of 50-55# comfortable. Any type of bow would fit me fine.
I'm in this is gonna be great I am gonna make a laminated bow of some sort of ipe and hickory maybe or some other great wood I shoot glass bows but don't care what I get back just as long in the 50@28+/-5 either way thanks guys later jake
Are you gentlemen right or left handed? Also send me your addresses.
Oh and I'm right handed thanks jake
Right handed. One piece bow. Thanks
although i really would like to join this event, i decided not to, since the distance gap between the countries.
but i will be watching carefully.
enjoy the built.
maybe some other time.
Well ink good luck to you. There are is one other in so far that is not from this side of the pond. Swiss bow has been in since the first swap I think. Johan has not signed up yet this year, but he did last year and he is in Africa. So don't let the distance be an issue.
Where are all of you from last year anyway? What are yall waiting on.
Prolly making sure Hova doesn't sign up again:)
:deadhorse:
That's why we recruited you to be on the committee Roy. All that talkin' bout the whoopin's you are gonna hand out I figured you where the go to guy to be the muscle in the clan :readit:
Or maybe we just needed a wise old man to give us direction
Stiks, my GPS battery died a long time ago:) lol
I have been watching the swap for two years now and have been seriously impressed. My experance is limited to board bows red oak and hickory right now but I would love to join. I'm right handed and would like 45-55 lb @ 26.I would like a glass bow but will be happy with anytype.
I'm in. I will be building a wooden bow. I shoot right handed. Draw length is 28" anything around 55-60#.
gentlemen
Andy and kellyG has pursuaded me to join this event. so i am in.
thanks for mails and kind replies.
i will be building long board bow. probably mulberry or oak.
i am right handed and using 50-55lbs @28", take down would be nice to carry it everywhere if not no worries.
best.
That's great inksoup, welcome to the swap.
Glad to see you get in Ink, I have looked for shipping info to Turkey with out much luck. Surely it won't be to bad.
I do recommend any one that draws an out of country recipient to check shipping on the addy before you build. Osage tree got quite a surprise when shipping to Africa and it was over 300.00 to ship a 1 piece and around 60.00 to ship a 2 piece.
If any one can't ship outside of the states be sure to let me or Kelly know so we can it on the sheet.
If we have any volunteers who want to ship outside the states let us know that also.
Well since longbowhntr ratted me out, I guess I'm in, I had fun in the first one....
Im right handed, looking for 50-60 lb range at 27 inches....
Gonna be building a selfbow
Thanks
Boswell
Ok we are up to 65 running out of toes here. :bigsmyl:
I need addresses if you were not in last years swap.
I'm in! I'll be making a one-piece selfbow. I shoot right-handed, 55-65# @ 29". I have no preference on the type of bow I receive.
I'll join. I will build a one piece wood bow. I shoot righty- 45-55# @ 28.
thanks.
I know we have had several offers so I think he will have a pool with your name in it also.
Put me in, Ill be building a BBO Longbow 1pc, In return right hand 45/50 28" draw, wood or glass
Buck welcome to the swap, I got your address now edit your post and delete it. That way you dont get any unwanted mail from internet surfers.
68 in the swap, where are all the ones from last year. Come on guys get signed up.
Happy New Year,
Kelly
Probly a cubs fan bein from illinois. We all know they dont know any better. If i lived in IL theres no way id want anybody to find out
Still debating on whether or not to get in. I'm tempted but hesitant. Not sure I'm in the same class as most of you. You guys are truly artist. I've built a few decent bows, but still consider myself a rookie!
Perry you cant be more of a rookie then I. I only have one under my belt but know I will make a bow that someone would be proud to own.
I'm in and I'm a rookie.
Dave.
Sorry I haven't been around in a bit. Dang season got the best of me. That and this 3 piece take down I've been tying to finish for my 5 year old apprentice. I'm pretty sure after this i'm sticking to self bows and board bows.
Now, as long as I don't have to paint my toenails, and drink bottled raspberry urine, I am certainly ok with being this year's whoopin boy.
Umm, wood carver, we can tell you're a rookie bud. You didn't give us any info! Specs man. we need specs.
Ok fishy, your the new pick on me guy. LOL
WHEW!!
I know Roy ain't gonna let you off that easy kate. LOL
:) NOPE
dang roy i think ya got a bunch a these boys scared to sign up this year after all the ass whippins ya got promised and put u on the board to got a bunch a scardey cats

LMAO Brock..
We got plenty of time left yet..
i know buddy just gotta mess with ya you gonna make it out with me n dvs hon 8 dean for elk bro ?
it just amazes me on how a tg bow swap can take on a life of its own on this forum. im roflmao @ all the $h!! that gets said in friendly banter.. ive already started my swap bow. im lookin foward to seein everyones work. rv
Ruddy if you want some just hang around and you'll be on Roy's list next.
I formed a committee for the swap this year and Roy's the muscle
I really want to do it again this year but my spring/summer is already packed this year so I think I'll just be an observer.... Probably next year tho!
Fish, I was the 9th one to sign up. I was just trying to encourage another rookie :D
You guys are a laugh but I'm glad I'm up in the Great White North. Too far away to get a whoopin and to the best of my knowledge, they don't sell fruity beer here. :smileystooges:
Dave.
Well this sounds like it could be fun maybe I can find a few bolts and old boards and make a 3pcs glass longbow,
I shoot glass bows around 45# 50# @28 RD would like a glass bow,
So do I show my work here as I go or what
JT we all try to show as much as possible with out revealing the recipient.
After everyone gets there info some one will start a new thread titled 2012 TG bow swap. It will get lengthy but everyone shows pics as they build and when they recieve so you'll have to check in often or you'll have alot of reading to do.
It's a great time for sure. Kinda like a cyber mojam but when your bow is done you pack her up and mail her off.
Perry, this bow trade is to get guys like you to join in. Your level of expertise doesn't matter. Last year Kelly was in Irac, he had no experience and no wood or tools (to speak of) to work with and yet he built a bow and killed a trophy when he got home. It was his first Trad bow and his largest buck. So if this is what you want, go for it. It is all up to you!
Happy New Year!
JT you can also start a build a long if you know you will be posting a lot of pics. I plan on that route just to get advice as I build.
Happy New Year to you Kelly and the whole Bench Bunch!!!!
:campfire:
I'm in! This will be my first time in the swap. I'll be building an all wood bow; most likely a self bow and most likely from a hickory stave.
In return, 40-50lbs @ 26" RH. I'm praying for Osage but I'll be happy with anything at all. Wood, glass or otherwise.
Happy New Year folks
Ok I've been checking this post for the last four days thinking about joining and its absolutely been eating at me. So before I get an ulcer I'm in. lol...I'll be buidling a boo backed ipe r/d longbow. In return I'd like somewhere between 50-60# at 28. What the bow is made out of makes no differance its all part of the fun. I'll pm my contact information.
Happy New Year everybody.
D, LittleBen, inksoup, Sacred mt, Kevin h, doc_engler, k-hat I need your mailing addresses. Shoot me a PM with it. If you sent it to sticks that is ok he will get it to me.
D also are you left or right handed.
We are up to 71 that is still under last years numbers.
I got D and Kevin
Need Inksoup, sacred mt, k-hat and doc_engler
I've already got mine roughed out and sitting in the wood stove room to keep it nice and dry. I don't want to be the last one to get done!
Sign me up. I will be building a glass longbow and would like a glass recurve if possible or a glass longbow R/H 45-50# @28". Same mailing address as last year Phone # 901-493-4684.
Thanks James
I'm in.
I'll be building a Bamboo Backed or Hickory Backed bow.
This year I would like to request a Laminated Glass Bow please. Recurve preferred. 46-50# @ 29.5" Left-Handed.
thanks
tenbrook
Sticks is right when this thing goes it takes on a life of its own. Check in early and often i think the thread last year was around 100 pages.
Happy New Year to one and all. I can't wait to see all the bows that will come out of this. Snowing like crazy here today, so got to take down christmas stuff, finish a table and get to roughing out a couple of staves. Need to find the one, its backup and then the one that will probably be the swap bow. Can't expect to get it right the first time round, if last year is any indication. Isn't that right Fish :)
Well we have 73 in the swap and in then in about 5 days the verifying of data and the drawing of names.
Ok Count me in! No leaving the country for me this year and I got a new saw for christmas!!! I will be making a wood bow. I will either glass or wood. I am right handed and 50-60#'s at 28" I'm pretty excited about this!
Happy New Year everyone! Hey Razorback, how are you liking that good Ontario snow we're sending your way? We're getting it off Lake Huron today, so you could say we're getting a dose of Michigan snow. :scared:
Dave.
Welcome back Cuban.
I have had a few request for certain types of bows (T/D, Recurves, longbows ETC.)
THE ONLY special request that I guarantee is if a glass bowyer request a glass bow in return or wood for wood.
If any one else request glass or wood it is possible but not a guarantee. I can't entertain request for certain designs or style. It's alot to keep track of and Myself or Kelly will not pick names to assign to recipients based on the style of bow you request.
This a Luck of the draw deal. There are many different styles of bows built and all fantastic work from board bows to all the bells and whistle TD glass bows.
This is about giving a piece of your self to another bowyer on the bench and recieving a piece of anothers heat and soul.
This craft is what we love and we love to share it with others.
Not trying to offend anyone or single any one out. If you sent me a PM just read my reply to you.
As big as this got last year and I expect it to be over 100 this year the we have to stick to rules or it will get way out of hand.
Enjoy the swap!
Well, I may regret this, but... My oldest son, 21, said something about getting in the swap. But since he has never done any woodwork I thought it would be best if he made a couple of bows first and entered next year. He may move home to commute during the spring semester, if so he can make a bow as I work on my swap bow. After getting a few splinters in his hands he should be ready for the real thing.
I'm excited that he is interested in trying his hand at making a bow. I often wish there had been someone to get me started out in the right direction back in the day.
:archer:
Stiks, just read your latest post and agree whole-heartedly. As long as a bowyer puts their best efforts into a bow, what more could you ask for?
This entire forum continues to amaze me with the attitudes, fellowship, and sharing.
Well said Stiks....well said
I got a pretty slick wooden bow from a guy in Arkansas last year:)
Thanks Kris-
First time in and excited to get started...I plan to build a selfbow (hop hornbeam).
In return, RH 40-50# at 26" (laminated longbow would be cool;-)
Dino
Yes, I am sure we all appreciate any kind of well made bow and look forward to the entire process. Thanks for setting this rule straight!
Its time again...dang
I'm in again
Gonna try for a self bow this year, but may fall back to another board bow if things don't go well.
I shoot righty 45-55lbs @ 28. I have a hankering for a primitive bow, but what ever I get is always fine with me.
I cleaned the bark from an Osage stave, am waiting instructions.
I kind of like all the new guys showing up..a helpful word of advise from a former rookie who is still a rookie
DO NOT DELAY...deadline creeps on ya faster than you know and a mistake at the late stages of the game can be more stressful than one made early.
If you start early. maybe screw up a few bows along the way you will still be able to get a GUARANTEED shooter in your recipients hands by the deadline. Sure helps your standing in our community when you can be timely. Just my $.02.
Not to mention that there are many guys on this site WILLING TO HELP YOU get a shooter right out of the box. Then you can concentrate on building a nicer one for your guy.
OK - sign me up again this year.
I'll be building a glass laminated longbow - either a Hill style or r/d depending on what I can figure out my recipient may prefer.
I'd appreciate a glass bow in return - right handed, 50 - 60# @ 28".
Nate has some good advice above. Don't wait till the last minute. I know things always go right when I'm building a bow for myself, but always go wrong when building for someone else.
QuoteDon't wait till the last minute. I know things always go right when I'm building a bow for myself, but always go wrong when building for someone else. [/QB]
Boy don't I know that! LOL
John, that's Kate, not Nate:) Inside joke here... LOL

OK Roy, I'll keep that in mind.
Sorry Nate, I mean Kate, I just gotta follow the lead of a brother from Pennsyltucky.
I went today looking for a osage for hickory board for my swap bow. I wasn't able to find either, however I did find a 4" honey locust tree at my mom's house. Would this be to small to get a bow out of?
My plan is to make a board bow early on and then try to make a self bow and then use the best bow for the swap. I am trying to avoid sending someone a red oak board bow.
Heck down in SC you should be able to get some hickory or pecan City cop.
We are up to 77 signed up now.
With much regret, I guess I will sit this year out. I have too many irons in the fire right now. I will be watching and hope to jump in on the next one. Have fun guys and I'm looking forward to plenty of pictures. I will be building two bows this year for my daughters ages 6 and 9. Have fun;0)
I am in, I will be building a selfbow, I am right handed and would like 45 to 55lbs at 28.

Its not that inside... I think people kinda just assume its Kate from the raspberries. Kinda like when peopme assume you're half samsquatch when they see you mug. Or me with my youthful wit and devilish charm...
:deadhorse:
Past yer beddy time DVS. Now go put on yer Bunny Slippers and snuggle up with Barney:)
Man Ive already got it laid out ,Going to see how fancy I can make a 3psc longbow
Rasberries, samsquatch? Mighty big words from someone who from what ive seen aint even signed up for the swap yet. Maybe he doesnt want to get any yeller dust on those bunny slippers Roy
And for the record hes snugglin up to Dora not barney. ive seen it!
LMAO
Youthful wit? Devilish charm?...someone is still dreaming while holding his Dora the Explorer blow up doll.
Now Kate, don't be picken on Daisy:)
I'm in again!!! I really enjoyed last years swap! I'll be making a r/d bbi.
My general specs...
I would prefer a glass bow, I am a right hand shooter, 29" and can pull up to about 50 lbs.
However...
Last year, there were several folks who wanted a challenge. Something very specific to build, so here's what I would like if you are up to it. I'LL TAKE ANYTHING THOUGH, so please don't see this as being picky.
I want to bowfish. So I'll need something in the 30lb range at 29", and an insert to hook a reel too. It will be getting wet and generally abused more than what would be typical.
Yee-Haw, looking forward to getting started on mine trade!
Daisy... I like it. Has a nice ring to it.
Kinda reminds me of a sign I read once..DAISY BB GUNS.. KEEPING KIDS OFF YOUR LAWN SINCE 1959.
lol soopernate
I'd like to sign up, please. I'll be making a 1
piece wood bow. I shoot right, 40 to 50# @ 28"
I prefer wood bows.
Rob Widen 250-846-5957
robwiden@gmail.com
Well 1025 vs makes 81 we are close to the number that signed up last year.
Guess if I'm gonna arbitrate I'd better be a part of the solution, not just a problem solver.
Make if official before I head out to a couple months in Texas... I'm in.
Still RH and 50-60# self bow shooter and builder.
Let me in, Its cold out side and I need something to do to keep warm. :)
I would like to join the fun this year, I will build a self bow . Hopefully I draw a recipent that has a 28" or less draw, and under 55# as I have never built one for long draw shooters or heavy draw weights.I do good at 28" and less and weights 55# and less. I shoot right handed, draw 27" and like a bow between 48 and 53# at 28" , Idealy 50#at 28" ,without glass or carbon. I have far to many with glass and carbon now.
I am not sure the wood I will use, I have staves that have been drying for 18 months+ and are ready to be worked.I guess the stave will tell me the style it wants to be.
Pete
@ woodcarver.
Thanks for the snow, we really need it around here as we are a big snowmobile/ski area. So feel free to send some more, just keep that damned cold air to yourselves :)
If you have to have pictures for the swap, you can count me out .I have sized and resized pictures all afternoon, doesn't work for me.No more patience!
Just out of curiosity what day should we expect to receive our name of the person we are building for? I am starting to get real excited to build this bow..
Oh crap I hope we don't have to post pics, even though it makes it a lot more exciteing, and another thing what happens if there is an odd number of people that sign up?? I was thinking about that the other day.
Think of a circle with 3 people holding a bow, if everyone passes left everyone gets a new bow... Not 100% sure but I don't think that the person you are making the bow for is the person making a bow for you.
The odd number isn't a problem, D. I'll just get two bows!
Or, someone just won't receive a bow. LOL!
Just kiddin'. It'll all work out. Got faith in the committee.
Midnight, January 7. That is what Kris put on the first page with the details and rules about the bow trade. Everyone please read this first.
Smooth sailing with kelly and kris spearheadin this ride. The rest of us... Well we got kelly and kris! :smileystooges:
I re read the rules and it says "sign ups will be closed at midnight January the 7th" I figured it would take a day or so to match up 80+ participants, but if we get the results when the sign ups close that would be great because I cant wait to start building. Thanks for the info.

Jorgy,
the easiest way I have found is to use a photobucket account. Its free and pretty straight forward. Just copy the code for " direct link" and paste it in the box that pops up for adding a photo here. Works like a charm.
If you have issue posting pics you can send them to me. I can get them up.
No the person you make for is not the person making yours most of the time. It is random draw. The way I do it is print off all the names put all the glass guys in one pile draw for them I go down the list of names as I pull the name I right it beside the first person on the list for glass. Once all that make glass and requested glass are drawn.
Then I draw the ones requesting selfbow/wood bows the same.
then I mix the piles up minus the bowyers I have drawn.
I just go down the list and pull a name and type it beside the next person on the list.
Kris and I will split the pile this year since I am in. That way it is a surprise for us both on who is making our bow.
If you are new I need your mailing address if you have not sent it to me or Kris. so I can send it to you bowyer so they know where to send your bow.
It may take a day or two to draw the names and send it out. I will also post a list with all your bow specs to ensure I did not forget someone and I did not screw up your info.
Hope all that makes since.
Little over a day and the sign up is closed.
i use image linky- real easy for me- i just resize the pics first in "paint"- it gives you the size straight away- just what works for me.
wayne
Kelly you are the MAN!!!
D you can email me or someone else pics if you need to.
Pics are real nice but not a requirement that is pushed LOL
DVS I don't do alot with it since Kelly jumped on board last year. Kelly's got this keeping records down to a science. The first year I had everything wrote in a notebook.
Kelly's got spreadsheets with all the important stuff. He kinda took over but I promise I ain't crying about it :readit: :D
If any one has any issues you can contact Me or Kelly or one of the Swap Committee listed on page 1.
If we have to deal with any late bows it will be took to the committee and voted on whether to ban or not. So if anybody is past the grace period your fate is in the hands of 7 LOL
Really it's like the bow swap Mafia and Roy is the Muscle :knothead: and Me and Kelly got your address
Just kidding! It has went off real smooth the past two years and everybody is understanding folk round here so don't get worried bout the Old Man showing up on your doorstep.
(man I'm on a roll LOL)
I dont know kris, we do push the pics alot. Sure they arent required, but lets just say a certain old man and crew may show up one day to "suggest" you post pics. Lol
I know a certain boy, who is about to get a good whoopen, ifin he keeps callen me old man:)
This is a bow I built a while ago, just trying to see if I can post a picture. (http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff440/Jorgy6/DSC00112.jpg)
Old man, old man, old man, old man old man, old man old man, old man I mean OLD ROY!
Keenan, don't make me come out there:)
Bow looks nice.

There is my good laugh of the day. Roy, come on out here. I can have all of us out to my place for whoopins. Ive got 300 ac. To hunt surronded by 1400ac of public. Ground. We need to set somethin up. All it would coat yall is gas and tags.
Sounds like a good time David. With that much ground I could hide from Ol' Roy and never take a whoopin' LOL
Thanks Roy,I won't post anymore and mess up the thread.Just tryin it out.
You done fine...
Now that I have all my crap together camerawise I am going to be a little better about posting pictures this year.
Count me in. I will be building a one-piece wood bow.
My specs:
Draw length: 31.5"
Poundage: 45-55#
Right handed
I'll only need one tag, that would be the I just got whooped tag I'm gonna pin to your ear:)
OK, I'm in, only if you don't let Roy have my addy. I just ain't got time to be wrestlin with him. :D
Will build a d/r glass
R/H 50 @ 28" is what I like , lets go with a self or hopefully a boo backed sumpin.
I think you have my addy. :)
Dear Kenny... I believe your addy is on your webpage? :)
Looks like you got it Jorgy! And....
...you guys really crack me up! "Old man, old man, old man..." :archer:
Oh Bona, don't make me come out there and smack ya girl:) LMAO
I am in! Here are my specs:
RH off the knuckle, somewhere around 55#.
If pressed (and I mean really pressed) I will admit I like a longbow/flatbow - not so much with the recurve thingees.
You mean you guys post photos? i wondered how you could draw such detailed pictures...

Jorgy, that thing makes my eyes start to spin....
Yeah it's made walnut and maple. The guy that has it is 79 yrs. old and shoots every day. It's a d/r,54",37#@25".
Did Daisy finally enter? I have'nt seen confirmation yet.
I haven't seen anywhere that Miss Daisy has entered?
Ok we have more signed up then last year. We are at 86.
Ok here is all that I have that have signed up double check your info and let me know if I screwed up.
Ok I will work on making it bigger so yall can read it.
How'd i get on that list? Musta been espn or something. So much for waitin till the last minute. :-)
Im in!
Is Landshark an acceptable beer on the bench? Apparently rasberry beer in frowned upon!
I gotta ask as I sit here and drink, laugh, and read.
Balding Kansas, here's what ya do. Drink your favorite flavor but have a high dollar bottle/can to be seen in any pics ya post. I think that's what most do anyway! Ha, Ha, Ha...
Red you trickster! Good idea, i'll have a bottle of crown hanging out in all my pictures!
Hey! That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!! Got a quart of Crown for Christmas myself. :bigsmyl:
Count me in please. This will be an interesting experience. I've made a handful of bows, but only for myself. I'm looking forward to seeing what I can produce for someone else. I'll do my very best and hope that my recipient likes osage. Kelly, I'll send you my info.
I cant stand not being involved again this year.Count me in.Ill be building a wood laminate bamboo backed something.Or an all bamboo if i get that figured out.Im RH 50-55#@28".I prefer some type of laminated bow of some sort, glass or wood.I like and build self bows as well.im not picky as long as someone puts there best effort in it.I promis to do the same.Kelly Ill send you my info. Thanks, Scott
Landshark is definitely acceptable. Made in St. Louis to boot.
Yeah Im a pretty big fan of Landshark myself, but I think Fat Tire have my heart/stomach at the moment. Anybody else like Tires??
ok 88 bowyers, will we get 12 more to make it an even 100.
I regret that I won't be able to make to this year's swap guys because my work takes up so much of my time. It just wouldn't be fair to my recipient that I couldn't dedicate enough time to building a nice bow and I don't want to feel rushed when building something for another member it's just not fair to them.
With that said, I will be watching the swap and the bows made to see what fine specimens come crawling off the bench. There were some fine ones last year for sure.
Good Luck to All!
~SEMO~
Ok fellas I have given it some thought and I will join in on all the fun.
I am right handed and shoot 50# @ 31"
I will be building a glass bow either a longbow or a takedown recurve.
I would like to have a glass bow in return just to see some of the creations up close but I am not to picky lol
Happy building everyone and looking forward to seeing what becomes of it
Fat Tire is pretty good stuff...I often drink it when it warms up a bit but I LOVE Cheladas when its really warm or we are fishing. Raspberry Shock Top is just a really good winter choice.
I will join again this year- I will build a wood bow- dont care what I get in return. 45-55# @ 29" right hand.
Put me in please
I will be making a glass bow and it will be a one peice
I am right handed and 40-50# @ 26.5" draw.
Anything is fine im not picky i just like bows
Glad you decided to join us Tyler.
Well I have been hesitating because the list of bows that I have committed to build is getting long. However I had a really fun time with this last year and I know I would hate sitting out watching........So now that we are down to the wire I guess I better get off the stick and jump in on this again. Count me in.
I will be building an all wood bow. I am flexable as to what I receive wood or glass is fine.
Prefer shorter bows. RH and 50-60 lbs. at 25" draw
Glad you got in Keenan!
I'm in! I couldn't stand it anymore. I sent my info to kelly
29 more minutes and it's closed
How many toes do you count now, Kelly? I don't think my cousin who once had 4 thumbs could keep up with these numbers! Oh, forgot. The extra digits were removed. Look funny for a while anyway. :D
