Besides a good bow wood it is a good stand tree as well. I hung this stand in an osage tree yesterday as my wife shot the pic. We counted 6 fresh scrapes within 20yrds of this stand.

If we take a deer here, I may cut the tree to make a bow from. Then I can say I hunted from the tree that made the bow. That selfbow would have actually already taken a deer before it was even a bow.
I know I get kinda weird when I am around osage trees or its wood,,, sorry!
Has anyone else hunted from osage with an osage?

I've killed several deer from Osage trees, though not yet with my Osage bow. Never used a stand, just find one that's leaning enough, or has enough low branches. My favorite one got bulldozed last year.
I watch some of the hunting shows and often see stands placed in osage trees during these shows. I wonder if the wheelie guys in the shows even know about the great trees they hunting out of.

With all the twisty branches those like they have great cover even lacking leaves.
I could out here plenty of hedge rows. But I don't know Joe about making a bow out of a good stand location. I mean they are almost as hard to come by.

Make sure you save the sinew from the deer you kill from that tree, and/or make rawhide with his skin. That way you can take both the tree and the deer with you next year in your next hunting bow. That's a lot of good mojo.
I love hunting out of osage trees. I've taken a lot of deer from them, but not with a selfbow........Yet :pray:
we hunted from the same osage for years never took the stand don just checked it really good each fall befor hunting then they took the crp out and wheat feild still a awesome stand every one gets deer out of it i think 15 have been shoot outa it in the 5yrs its been up
Very cool! I like this plan. Going with Bowjunkie, you need to shoot a turkey from that stand and grab some shoots so your arrows can come from there too!
