Title: Have any made their own bandsaw?
Post by: dmikeyj on November 02, 2011, 08:05:00 PM
I am tempted to pick up the plans from woodgears.ca for the homemade bandsaw.  I figured I would see if any here have made their own from these, or their own plans?

i made a three wheel bandsaw- it had 14" wheels and about 30" clearance.
it was a specific saw for a specific job in one of our factories- 20 years later it is still running perfectly- and it works every day- gone thru a few motors- so i could help you with a few lessons i learnt along the way. but i am sure the plans will be just great.
good luck

I went to that site. Two things come to mind. Admiration for the work that went into those projects and the investment vs. returns.

Well, I once attempted to build my own, does that count?

This was years ago, probably way before Mathew (woodgears.ca) even had a shop.  I was about 1/2 done with it when my Dad called me and said, "Hey can you use a bandsaw?"  I think you can guess the answer to that question.
