Won't go into great detail and this may not be the right place for these pics and story but since I got this bow from Bradford in the TG 2011 Bow Swap it just seemed right to share with you all.
First of all, this little short recurve shoots awesome and hits hard! It took a little getting used to such a short bow but as you can see from the results we seem to jive pretty good together.
Here's some pics of me, the bow, and the turkey. My first ever turkey with a bow and did it with a recurve. Then to do it with a bow I got from a great bow builder right here on Trad Gang makes it all that much sweeter!
P.S. - Bradford I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of putting some water mocassin skins on the bow you made for me. I couldn't help myself, that black glass was just begging for mocassin skins and I think I did the bow justice with a nice clean skin job. I've gotten more compliments on this bow than you could possibly imagine. It will never leave my hands as long as they can still hold it.
Turkey........It's what's for dinner! :goldtooth:

Congrats Semo. Good shooting. Awesome little bow too!
Nice! How can anyone argue with covering the limbs with snake skins? It was already a sweet lookin rig and now it's even better! I need to get some skins some day too.
In that first picture up there, just which one is dah turkey? :)
LOL congrats Semo
Well it seems Semo got first blood. Like the skins they do add some more mojo to the bow. Congrats.
Roy its the one with the arra poking out of it, but they do say you are what you eat.
Good job, SEMO! Where'd you shoot that bird? In your back yard? LOL
Skins look great, too. I never hung around mocassins long enough to notice how well the pattern stands out on 'em. Just turned and went the other way, most times.
Excellent looking bow and Turkey Great Job Chris
Nice job on both.....Congrats!
 Awsome! Put these pics in Swiss bows picture thread or send him a PM and ask him to do it.
FANTASTIC!!!!!! This is what the swap is about right there.
Way to go Chris!!!!! :clapper:
Good lookin turkey and bow semo! I gotta ask just out of curiosity, were you deer huntin and the turkey just happened to come by? I ask because I've had that happen a time or two in the fall.
Thanks fellas!
The turkey wasn't an incidental shooting, I've been watching them on my trail camera in this particular spot for about 3 weeks now. It's an oak bench at the top of a steep hill above the river that's absolutely loaded with acorns.
I've got lots of deer on camera in the same spot as well, but haven't seen one yet while hunting. It's just a matter of time before they show up and then the first one that offers a good shot will catch an arra!
I just started a new job 3 weeks ago and haven't had much time to get out there, I'm putting in 60hrs. this week. This was only my 3rd trip since Sept. 15th when our season opened and I saw turkeys on every trip out. Just so happened yesterday evening after I got off work these hens and youngins finally worked in close enough for a shot and I singled out the closest one that I had a clear shot at. There were about 12 or 13 birds in this flock, some big hens and the rest were about half grown poults.
Nice bird Chris! Love the skins also. Congratulations on the new job, that's even more awesome.........Art
Thanks Art, yes it is very awesome about the job. Things are going fantastice and my bosses are real happy with my work. Life couldn't be better at the moment, even though it really cuts into my hunting time that's just the way it is. Gotta make that hay while the sun's shinin' right!
Besides, I always seem to find a way to sneek in some hunting time here and there so that's good enough for me, next year I'll have vacation time right before deer season so it's all good.
That's why you all don't see me around these parts much anymore, just been real busy lately.
That's great news about the new job Chris. I was hoping that's the reason we hadn't seen you around for a while. Hope you get the opportunity to get a little deer hunting in also. Enjoyed the pics, keep 'em coming........Art
Good eaten right there! Congrat's!!!!
Wow! those skins look like they belong on that bow. I don't mind at all. Remember, I live in California.."we don't have snakes"...LOL
Really like how it looks with the red stripes and the black glass.. and love the quiver on it as well.
Glad your happy with shorty! and great to see it being used.
Thanks for sharing that... made my day!
Sweet!! Way to break her in :)
Very awesome Semo! Nice shooting brother.
That's awesome. Bow and bird. Contests
Shawn
Great job!!
Thanks again fellas!
Glad you approve of the skins Bradford, I was hesitant to post a pic of the bow cause I wasn't sure if it would bother you or not. I see that I was worried over nothing now. Those mocassins do compliment the black glass extremely well and evidently it's some awesome camoflage cause the turkeys got a real good look at it and never paid any attention to it whatsoever.
Now I just need a whitetail or a coyote to get within my effective range and I'll complete the field test evaluation.
That is FANtastic Chris! Good job! The bow looks great too!
What a great way to break in a new bow, good job ! Love the skins, they look cool.

Andy
Thanks Bona and Andy. Andy if you want to use these pictures for anything like Stiks was talking about for a swap bow animal harvest thread or something, feel free to use them. If you need the originals just email or PM me and I'll get you the originals.
Nice job Semo. Is that the first blood from a trade bow.
Definitely approve! I would never have thought of using snake skins on a recurve.
I will just tell everyone that it was planned that way..hehehehehehe. Hope you don't mind, I copied the pics to my album.. I do love the look.
That's great Bradford, feel free to show them around.
Thanks Razor, I'm not sure but I think so?
I almost had a coyote this evening, but sent an arra right over his back. I have a tendency to shoot high on coyotes for some reason? I did the same thing on two others last year before I nailed one with my Bear Grizzly.
Good looking turkey! Awesome looking bow! The skins definitely added some character.
Good stuff comes in waves eh' pal? New bow, new job, and a dead turkey in September. Look out ladies! Chris has 3 of 4 checked off his list! :D
Yep, I need to get crackin' on #4 don't I? :saywhat:
Wrong time of the year to get crackin on #4 pal! You need plenty of rest on friday and saturday nights for the next 3 months, 5 a.m. comes early in the deer woods.
I'm like lunch meat..........I'm always ready! :saywhat:
That's awsome! :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
Awesome lunch meat errrr Chris lol
Keep it up given me a goal to catch up to as soon as I get this house done it is going to be full on for about a month. Love the skins, I have a black glass recurve that needs something those cotton mouth skins look like they may be right on it too. Although hunting the swamps down here this time of year those are not what you want to find in the dark.
There is a self bow only 3d shoot Saturday at Crowley ridge CA , this is the week of their rendezvous. Never been but may take a day off and shoot if my back will let me.
Thanks LW and Twitchstick, much appreciated nice comments.
I wish I had more time to spend in the woods, but I'm working some killer overtime hours so I ain't complaining. Gotta cut that hay while the sun is a shinin!!
