Title: T nuts for 3 piece take downs?
Post by: Zbearclaw on September 22, 2011, 06:20:00 AM
Does anyone have a supplier for t nuts for the riser insert for take down bows?

I have been using the double threaded inserts from Binghams but would like something more stout to use.

I have seen pics of brass t-head nuts on the belly of the riser from other bowyers.  I am thinking I would laminate them inside the riser so they didn't show on the belly, but still have the added strength of that head.

Thanks for any help. I ordered some but the nuts are very short.  I need something that has a longer nut so that the threaded channel reaches the face of the riser.

Make a new friend.......a machinist hobby.......like hobbits .....rarely seen outside their natural environment! They can often be wooed with with fresh fish or pork.

Z Bear,
Send me a PM with a drawing/blueprint of what you are after ( size, material, etc.)and I will see what I can do for you.  I'm a machinist by day and a lurker by night.  Thanks

Scratch that, go to McMasterCarr.com and search for t nuts.  Way cheaper than I could ever make them for you.  Good Luck!
