so i was cahsin a ring on the back of the limb, and then this happend! i already have half of it down to the ring that was violated. can i just leave it? or do i have to go ahead and take one more ring off?

i put my finger on it to show size. oh, and i traced it with a pencil to show the line better.

You need to get it down to a clean, unviolated ring! Show a pic of the end grain. Might be a better ring below.
Yes, by all means. Take it down to that ring.
If that is in the handle (non-working portion of the bow) it would be fine. If it is anywhere between fade and tip it will have to be taken down to the next ring.
actually, the whole thing is a limb. haha. im experimenting with a 3-piece takedown with self bow limbs. Thanks for all the help!

ok sorry bout the size! i edited them multiple times but they wont shrink! frustrating... :banghead:
I'd just use a scraper to chase one of those thin rings. Better chance of not scraping through the ring.
When I chase a ring, I like to take it down to the spring growth right above the ring that I want and then use sandpaper to remove the crunchy spring growth.
I would take it down to this ring. Its thicker and not to far down. It looks like it is the same thickness on the other end too.
