Hi guys-
I've been lurking over here and enjoyed the pics and build alongs and am ready to get a book or two and get started-
I'm thinking about starting with the trad bowyers bible1.
I want to build Osage or hickory self bows for hunting.
Any other book suggestions for a rookie?
I've hunted w longbow and made arrows for 20 yrs so I'm not new to it all just haven't jumped off the cliff to building my own bows yet!
Thanks
TIM B
Buy the whole series. Each one doesnt neccesarilly progress with your talent level. Its more of a potpourri of info in 4 books.
Hunting the Osage Bow by Dean Torges
+1 for Dean's book.
Get all four TBB's. They are really full of useful info.
Paul Comstock's "The Bent stick" is good too.
I think the Bowyers Bibles are better understood after you've actually bent some wood.
I bought Al Herrin's "Making Cherokee Bows and Arrows." I also bought Easter's DVD (google osage and you'll find him).
The Bent Stick by Paul Comstock is a good one to start with. Jawge
